Since the Tang Dynasty, peony has the reputation of "national color and natural fragrance", and is also known as "the flower of wealth" and "the flower of prosperity". In Zhujing Town, Jinshan District, there is such a village named after peonies - Peony Village, and more than 2,000 peonies are planted in the village. April is the season when peonies are in full bloom, let's go into the peony village to find out.
Walk 100 meters to the east along the village committee of Peony Village, what catches your eye is a two-storey ancient building that sits in the north and faces south, brick and wood structure, black tile and white wall, the eaves are warped, and the horse head wall is towering, which is the old house of the Qin family built in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. According to the recollection of the descendants of the Qin family, the complete Qin house is the front and back three dais, the middle hall is the living room, the decoration is gorgeous, and the most famous peony in the Qin house is the peony, "when the flowers are in full bloom, it attracts the villagers from ten miles and eight towns to come to watch."
According to the record of "New Agricultural Chronicles", more than 200 years ago, when the family surnamed Qin in Yangjiadai (now Group 2 of Peony Village) was building a house, they accidentally picked up a flower stalk in the river and planted it in the southeast corner of the patio. When this peony blooms, the color is deep red, the stamens are golden, the petals are involuted and thick, the flowering period lasts for a long time and does not fall, it is called the red peony, it is an extremely valuable variety, and it can be called the king of flowers. Legend has it that this flower has three major characteristics: it cannot be planted, the stamen can be expected to be harvested in that year, and at the end of the Qing Dynasty, at dawn, a flock of birds gathers on the roof, and the sheng reeds play together, and the noise is not long in coming, and there is a phoenix flying around.
However, in 1970, when the local villagers slaughtered the cattle, the blood of the cow accidentally flowed into the soil where the peony grows, and the peony with high soil quality requirements withered, and there were no more peonies in the village after that.
In 2015, the village committee learned during a visit that the villagers hoped to see peonies bloom in the village again, so that the "peony village" could live up to its name. Therefore, the village committee contacted greening professionals and planted a few peonies in the courtyard of the Qin family's old house, so that the peony flowers that had disappeared for nearly 50 years reappeared. Nowadays, every flowering period, these peonies will bloom in the warm spring breeze, and the courtyard is full of purple and red, and many tourists come to enjoy the flowers, visit and take pictures.
In addition, the village has also built a peony dai, a peony square, a peony pavilion, and planted more than 2,600 peony flowers in the village, constantly excavating the peony culture, inheriting the peony spirit, and making the construction of a beautiful countryside more distinctive. Every April, strolling through the village, the eyes are full of peony shadows, all kinds of peonies or white as snow, or red and glamorous, or pretty as the sun, in the sun, extraordinarily enchanting, the poetry and painting of peony at your fingertips.
