Legal Links
Article 47 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China clearly stipulates that:
(1) When a motor vehicle crosses a pedestrian crossing, it should slow down, and when a pedestrian is passing through a pedestrian crossing, it should stop and give way.
(2) When a motor vehicle passes on a road without a traffic signal, it should avoid a pedestrian crossing the road.
Relevant penalties:
(1) If a motor vehicle passes through an intersection or a pedestrian crossing and does not slow down, give way, stop and wait or does not follow the prescribed route, it may be fined 150 yuan in accordance with Article 90 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China and Article 64, Paragraph 1, Item 2 of the Road Traffic Safety Regulations of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
(2) According to Item 7 of Article 11 of the Measures for the Management of Demerit Points for Road Traffic Safety Violations (Decree No. 163 of the Ministry of Public Security), which came into effect on April 1, 2022, 3 points will be deducted at a time if driving a motor vehicle through a pedestrian crossing and failing to slow down, stop, or avoid pedestrians in accordance with regulations.
