In November 1949, Kuomintang agents carried out a bloody massacre of imprisoned Communists and progressives before retreating. Among the victims, the experiences of two young people are particularly alarming: Han Bing and Jiang Wanchao.
According to survivors' recollections, the two men were originally active in prison and were active as revolutionaries in prison. But in the days leading up to the tragedy, their words and actions became unusual and suspicious. They were seen meeting secretly at night, exchanging words. What is even more shocking is that after the massacre began, they were not killed by the secret service, but chose to commit suicide. Han Bing said an intriguing sentence when he was dying: "I am a fake shadow, and the real shadow has not been exposed." "
This sentence unveils the tip of the iceberg of a shocking secret. It turned out that as early as the Anti-Japanese War, the Kuomintang military commanders secretly established a spy organization codenamed "Shadow". They were specially trained to go behind enemy lines and disguise themselves as communists in order to discern and dismantle the revolutionary forces. Allegedly, the "shadow" group has a strict set of rules: each agent has a "shadow" identity, and once this identity is exposed, he must commit suicide so as not to involve others.
Han Bing and Jiang Wanchao are likely to be victims of the "shadow" plan. They have been hiding in the ranks of the revolution for many years, and at the moment of life and death, in order to cover other "shadows", they have to choose to cut themselves off. And their death may be the beginning of a larger conspiracy.
Some researchers have noticed that the "shadow plan" was mentioned many times in the memoirs of Mao Renfeng, the leader of the Kuomintang military command, and he implied that this plan had infiltrated the top of the CCP and affected the trend of some major historical events. There are also some doubts in the Dregs Cave tragedy that cannot be explained to this day: Why did several important people in prison mysteriously disappear?
