The unveiling ceremony of the One Health Research Institute and the One Health Innovation and Development Forum with the theme of "Ending the Future Pandemic, Consensus and Action" was recently held at Wenzhou Medical University. Authoritative and well-known experts and scholars in related fields at home and abroad gathered together to discuss the development of the same health discipline, aiming to explore the development ecology integrating the government, universities, hospitals, and pharmaceutical enterprises, promote the cross-integration of multiple fields, and promote innovative research on global health governance.
In recent years, the spread and outbreak of infectious diseases among different species and regions not only pose a serious threat to the survival and health of humans and animals, but also cause huge economic losses to society. As a new strategy of interdisciplinary and cross-regional collaboration and communication involving human, animal and environmental health care, "One Health" has become an internationally recognized key strategy to solve major and complex human health problems.
Mao Qunan, Director General of the Department of Planning, Development and Informatization of the National Health Commission, said that the mainland has been actively promoting the implementation and development of the concept of "One Health", and this forum brings together experts and scholars in many fields such as human-animal insect-borne infectious disease research, antimicrobial research, environmental health research, etc., and looks forward to further strengthening cooperation, promoting knowledge exchange and sharing, and making greater contributions to addressing global health challenges.
Wilt Ian Lipkin, Director of the World Health Organization's Diagnostic Research Center, said that emerging infectious diseases are one of the important challenges facing human survival today, and he hoped that the One Health Institute could give full play to its role as a bridge to promote multidisciplinary, multi-sectoral and all-round collaborative cooperation, and contribute wisdom and strength to the realization of the goal of a community of health for all.
At the meeting, the appointment ceremony of the president of the One Health Research Institute was held, and Professor Lu Jiahai, director of the Key Laboratory of Quality Monitoring and Evaluation of Vaccines and Biological Products of the National Medical Products Administration, was invited as the president of the One Health Research Institute. Lu Jiahai introduced that the institute will carry out interdisdiscentric, cross-departmental and cross-regional exchanges and cooperation according to the concept of big health, and work together to achieve the goal of a community of health for mankind.
At the scene, the Academic Committee of the One Health Research Institute was formally established and issued a certificate of appointment, and 8 academicians and experts including Deng Zixin and Xia Ningshao were hired as members of the Academic Committee. At the same time, the establishment of the Editorial Committee of the One Health Monograph and the official launch of the preparation of the One Health Society, academicians and experts will participate in the compilation of the same health monograph, and strive to anchor the goal in discipline construction, academic innovation, textbook construction, health science popularization, etc., and promote the innovation and development of the emerging discipline of the same health.
The conference also held a seminar on the future development and work of the One Health Research Institute, a seminar on the training of health inspection and quarantine professionals, and an academic forum for academic sailing and truth-seeking.
