A few days ago, Kia announced its next product plan at the 2024 Investor Day meeting, which will launch as many as 15 pure electric models by 2027, and the annual sales of pure electric vehicles will reach 1.6 million units in 2030.
In 2024, the all-new/refreshed models, including the Kia EV3 and Kia K4, will be released around the third quarter. The Kia EV6, Kia K8 and Sportage models will receive product upgrades. In addition, a hatchback version of the all-new K3 will be introduced, and the EV6 will be derived from the GT version.
In the next few years, Kia's BEV lineup will expand rapidly, with up to 4 new BEV models to be launched in 2025 and a total of 13 BEV passenger cars by 2027. In terms of commercial vehicles, two pure electric products will be launched, which are expected to focus on logistics and other markets.
In terms of sales, Kia plans to contribute 38% of sales from pure electric vehicles by 2030, an increase of 28 percentage points from 2024.
It can be seen that Kia's ambition for electrification transformation is not small, which is much more backbone than Toyota and Mercedes-Benz, which have retreated. However, whether Kia can achieve its goal depends on whether its technical strength is thick enough.
