When it comes to hometown, a special emotion comes to everyone's heart. My hometown is in the countryside of Heilongjiang. I've been away from the countryside for too long, and I've been in Beijing for almost 50 years, so I don't know much about the situation in the countryside now.
What is the situation in China's countryside today? I recently read a survey report on China's countryside written by a professor at Wuhan University, and after reading it, my heart sank.
A professor at Wuhan University concluded that the most serious problems in some parts of our rural areas are not all the low money and low income that everyone thinks. At present, some of the main problems in the rural areas are not low incomes or heavy labor, but irrational consumption, meaningless leisure, and imbalance in social relations.
First of all, the consumption is unreasonable. With the continuous development of our economy, especially the fact that the mainland has built a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, the people's wallets have become bulging. At present, a relatively serious problem in the rural areas is the rapid growth of consumption, especially the rapid growth of irrational and irrational consumption.
In other words, the growth rate of peasant incomes is far from keeping pace with the growth rate of consumption. In some impoverished mountainous areas, such as Zigui in Hubei, a quarter of peasants' income is actually spent on favors. The annual personal expenses of an ordinary people's family are tens of thousands of yuan, and it is almost 3,000 yuan for one person.
Secondly, the extravagance and waste on the banquet is also very alarming, in the rural areas of Zhejiang, a table of banquets costs three or four thousand yuan, which is relatively normal. Like some family banquets, it is very common to hold thirty or forty tables, such as weddings and funerals, and it costs more than 100,000 yuan to hold a banquet in this case!
In addition, rural gambling and Mark Six lottery have been popular for a long time. Although the well-off has helped the majority of families get out of poverty, their income is limited after all. As a result, unreasonable and irrational consumption in this situation has caused difficulties in the lives of ordinary people.
I saw an article by Mr. He Xuefeng on the Red Culture Network that also talked about this issue, he said that the large expenditure on rural favors has made many rural people feel the pressure, especially in the Yangtze River Basin, such as Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, and other places, including my hometown in the northeast countryside, where a considerable part of the farmers' income is used to deal with the sophistication of human relations.
I often quote Zhang Zuolin as saying that "the rivers and lakes are not about fighting and killing, the rivers and lakes are about the sophistication of human feelings", but if the sophistication of human feelings has changed all the purpose of our lives, so that we have to pay a great price for the sophistication of human feelings, then all this will be troublesome.
At the beginning, the favor money collected by everyone for the banquet was to spend, because there was a surplus for the banquet, and this surplus could be used as financial support for the villagers' families. However, the current situation is that some families have held many banquets in a row and received favors many times.
On the contrary, some families have only given favors for several years, but have not had the opportunity to hold a banquet to regain favors, which makes these families take advantage of the families who have held banquets many times. In addition to the conventional banquets in the past, there are also a large number of banquets, which leads to some family banquets without explaining the reason, which is the so-called "nothing to drink". The banquets are more and more, the favor is getting higher and higher, and all the villagers are under great pressure because of the sophistication of the people.
Mr. He Xuefeng's article also mentions an incident that is sad to say. In some villages, the elderly committed suicide, and in the case of the financial outflow of rural people, this led to the disintegration of the traditional structural forces of the villages, the weakening of the function of the grassroots organization system, and the emergence of various problems in the rural society.
If rural people are a vulnerable group, then the elderly in rural areas are the disadvantaged group among the disadvantaged groups. Some social surveys also reflect this phenomenon, and the problem of suicide among the elderly is relatively serious, especially in the central part of the Yangtze River Basin, where the unnatural death of the elderly in rural areas is prevalent. When the professor of Wuhan University investigated the countryside, he found some incomprehensible and sad things - the unnatural deaths of the elderly are not all due to the abuse of their children, and a considerable part of them are because they are old and in poor health, and the elderly are worried about dragging down their children, so they choose to commit suicide themselves.
In addition, China's collective economy is facing disintegration – the social structure of the village, which has been stable for millennia, is facing disintegration. Villages that used to be relatively closed are now open, and farmers can earn money from outside the villages, and more and more from outside the villages.
In this case, the structural forces that used to restrain the "free-riding" behavior of villages have disintegrated, more and more villagers are learning to "free ride", and even more and more villagers have taken the opportunity of the implementation of national projects in villages to become nail households for profit, and have become "Diao Min". However, the lack of power to restrain the "Diao Min" makes the "Diao Min" an upright force in the village, because the "Diao Min" will benefit.
With this exemplary effect, more and more villagers will become "Diao Min". The result of spreading ten to hundreds, the collective action carried out by the village for the public interest is in trouble, and the state will encounter difficulties for the nail households if they want to do good things for the village. Good things are not easy to do, and they cannot be done.
Finally, in our more traditional rural China, the core concept of the common people is to pass on the ancestry and glorify the ancestors. But now, the value of accomplishing life tasks and gaining meaning around having children has also been broken, and short-term behaviors of quick success and quick profit are common in rural areas. Nowadays, many people don't know why they live, what the meaning of life is, and what kind of way of living is right.
When I talk about today's topic, my heart is very heavy, I think the complexity of the rural problem is not clear in this article alone, but I would like to thank this professor of Wuhan University for doing this survey report in the rural areas, which allows us to correctly understand the real problems in China's rural areas.
Because without the modernization of the rural areas, there would be no modernization of China, and all kinds of problems in the rural areas still exist, and I believe that we will be able to solve these problems in the end.
