From March 22nd to 23rd, the 2024 Academic Annual Meeting of the Hearing Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine was successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. With the theme of "Healthy China, Whole Life Cycle Ear Protection, Concern for the Hearing Health of the Elderly", the conference was hosted by the Hearing Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, and organized by the Hearing and Speech Rehabilitation Center of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, the Sichuan Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Society, and the Sichuan Provincial Technical Guidance Group for Deafness Prevention and Treatment. More than 300 well-known scholars from all over the country, top audiology experts and related practitioners attended the meeting.

Niu Enxi, chairman of the board of supervisors and full-time deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He pointed out that the annual meeting was well prepared, the theme was prominent, and the content was rich, and he believed that with the joint efforts of everyone, the annual meeting will be able to achieve complete success and positive results. We must actively respond to the challenges led by the aging population, firmly establish the people-centered development philosophy, insist on ensuring people's health as the starting point and end point of our work, and strive to improve the capacity of rehabilitation medical services. It is necessary to vigorously carry out academic research and scientific and technological innovation, organize scientific research and technical research around the difficult and hot issues affecting hearing health, and promote the innovation and development of hearing rehabilitation. It is necessary to pay attention to strengthening talent training and team building, adopt various forms of training professionals, and create a team of high-quality compound hearing rehabilitation professionals. To further improve the rules and regulations, improve the level of standardized management, actively develop specialist members, organize the compilation of expert consensus, professional guidelines and group standards, promote the scientific standardization of the development of hearing rehabilitation profession, and make the special committee bigger and stronger.

Lei Ji, Deputy Director of the Maternal and Child Division of the Sichuan Provincial Health Commission, Nie Caixian, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Sichuan Provincial Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, Lu Wei, Chairman of the Hearing Rehabilitation Committee of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, and Zhao Yu, Director of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

During the two-day academic conference, more than 30 well-known domestic audiologists conducted in-depth discussions and delivered wonderful speeches on topics such as the latest research results in audiology and the innovative model of hearing health services, among which 21 experts conducted high-quality special academic reports, 12 paper speeches and sharing, 15 selected paper poster displays, and hearing aid fitting skills knowledge competition and case analysis competition. The academic activities cover the latest progress from basic audiology research to hearing rehabilitation technology, from professional theoretical knowledge competition to clinical case analysis, comprehensively demonstrating the prosperity and innovation in the field of audiology, and conducting in-depth discussions on many aspects of the current hearing rehabilitation cause in mainland China. Through this conference, we not only deepened our understanding of the field of audiology, but also gained valuable academic inspiration and cooperation opportunities. With the successful conclusion of the conference, the Hearing Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine will continue to promote the development of hearing health services, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign counterparts, and contribute to the improvement of public hearing health.
