At noon on April 5, local time, the 45th batch of escort squadrons of the Navy successfully concluded its goodwill visit to Mozambique and set off for Madagascar.
At about 12 noon, the Urumqi, Linyi, and Dongpinghu warships of the formation left the port of Maputo in Mozambique one after another, and the Chinese embassy in Mozambique held a farewell ceremony, and more than 100 people, including representatives of the Mozambican military and embassy staff, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises, and overseas Chinese, saw off the officers and men of the formation.
During the visit, the commander of the formation met with the Mayor of Maputo, Mr. Manik, and the Chief of Staff of the Mozambican Navy, Commodore General Vaz, for in-depth exchanges. The commander of the formation said that China and Mozambique have always had a special friendship of "comrades and brothers" and are true friends and brothers who have stood together through thick and thin and shared weal and woe, and hoped to take the formation's visit as an opportunity to further deepen mutual understanding and enhance traditional friendship. Mayor Manik pointed out that China is a true friend of Mozambique, and Mozambique is firmly committed to developing friendly relations between China and Mozambique, and is willing to enhance mutual trust and friendship with China, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Brigadier General Vaz stressed that China has played an important role in maintaining world peace and security, expressed his heartfelt thanks to China for its long-term help and support to the Mozambican side, and looked forward to the continued deepening of cooperation and exchanges between the Chinese and Mozambican navies.
Over the past few days, the formation has held an opening activity for the warship, and more than 500 people, including staff of the Chinese Embassy in Mozambique, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises, overseas Chinese, and local citizens, have boarded the ship to visit. On the morning of April 2, more than 200 representatives of the Mozambican Navy visited the Linyi ship, and the officers and men of the Linyi ship carried out demonstrations such as the wearing of fireproof clothing, the organization and implementation of the ship's fire extinguishing, and the use of damage management equipment. "The Chinese Navy is a powerful force for peace, and the navies of other countries are committed to promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. We are very honored to have such a deep and long-term friendship with the Chinese Navy, and the visit of the Navy escort formation is the best proof of this!" said the leader of the Mozambican Navy Cooperation Office with emotion after the visit.
The squadron also held a deck reception on the Urumqi ship, where it hosted the leaders of the Mozambican army, the personnel of the Chinese embassy in Mozambique, and representatives of overseas Chinese. At the reception, the officers and men performed lion dances, tai chi, and other cultural and artistic programs with Chinese characteristics, and specially prepared interactive activities such as tea art demonstrations for the guests.
