Previously, according to the deployment of the superiors, the company adjusted and optimized the staffing in combination with the mission and tasks, and only 2 corporals in the fifth squad retained their original professional posts, and Zhou Kaijing and several other soldiers were either interprofessional transfers or recruits who had just left the company, all of whom were full of "laymen".
Due to his excellent professional quality, long military experience, and certain management experience, Zhou Kaijing was appointed as the leader of the fifth squad. According to the annual training plan for that year, the fifth squad, which had just undergone personnel adjustments, would soon have to follow the unit to carry out important tasks. This means that in a short period of time, Zhou Kaijing not only has to improve his personal skills and be qualified for the position of squad leader, but also helps several recruits quickly master equipment operation skills.
The ideological pressure was already very great, but the blows followed. Not long after transferring to a new major, Zhou Kaijing "made a mistake" in an actual operation assessment: a data display was wrong, and he failed to find the problem, but fortunately, the corporal Lei Yulong in the same class helped to finally eliminate the problem.
"As the leader of a squad, my ability and quality are not strong, how can I lead other comrades-in-arms to progress?" Zhou Kaijing was a little deflated.
In those days, whenever I saw the eye-catching 12-character slogan "People are united, the class style is positive, the profession is strong, and the list is famous" on the cultural wall of the class, Zhou Kaijing felt like a man. To this end, he trained hard, humbly asked the two corporals in the class for advice, worked overtime at night to learn professional knowledge, and gave up weekend rest time to devote himself to practical training.
"When I feel tired, I look at the photos of my former comrades-in-arms of Class 5 on the cultural wall participating in various tasks, and see the achievements and honors they have achieved, and I am full of enthusiasm. Zhou Kaijing recalled his experience, saying that the cultural wall in the class gave him a lot of encouragement.
The author understands that in this brigade, each squad and platoon has its own distinctive cultural wall. According to the leaders of the brigade, in order to create a good atmosphere in which officers and men take the initiative to engage in education and be nurtured at all times, and to encourage officers and men to grow up and become talented people in a subtle way, they organized the company to conscientiously sort out the "honorary assets" and build a cultural wall in each squad and platoon. On the wall, in addition to the important honors won by the display squad platoon, there are also annual goals set by officers and soldiers.
Zhou Kaijing's goal at that time was to "lead the class to refine and strengthen their professional studies and complete the tasks assigned by their superiors". This may seem simple, but it's not easy to actually do. During a full-process implementation exercise, when Private Zhao Junlong connected the cable, he found that the cable was too long to bend, and it was difficult to access the socket. Zhou Kaijing quickly organized everyone to deal with it, and although the problem was solved, the whole process took nearly 1 minute.
Since then, Zhou Kaijing has led the class to race against time, and everyone has formed pairs to help each other, strictly train carefully, and constantly consolidate the foundation of ability, and finally ushered in the "highlight moment"——
As the qualification certification assessment of a major task came, Zhou Kaijing led the class to lay cable connections. This time, they not only shortened the time by nearly 2 minutes, but also correctly handled all kinds of special situations set by the examiner on the spot, and achieved excellent results. Back in the class, looking at the annual goals he had set on the cultural wall, Zhou Kaijing breathed a sigh of relief, with a confident smile on his face.
After passing the qualification certification assessment, Zhou Kaijing took the fifth class to become more and more courageous. At the end of last year, the brigade organized a military training assessment, and the fifth class won the second place in a certain specialty of the whole brigade.
It's spring coming early again. After the start of the new year's training, Zhou Kaijing and his comrades-in-arms once again came to the cultural wall, withdrew last year's annual goal, and pasted the new goal of "winning the first place in the military training assessment of the formation class."
