Yan Zhenqing, a native of Jingzhao Wannian (now Xi'an, Shaanxi), was a famous minister and calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty. His calligraphy is exquisite, and he is good at lines and letters. He began to learn Chu Suiliang's calligraphy, and later apprenticed to Zhang Xu, obtained his pen movement techniques and calligraphy essence, and created "Yan Ti" regular script. He and Zhao Mengfu, Liu Gongquan, and Ouyang Xun are known as the "Four Masters of Regular Script". It is also called "Yan Liu" and Liu Gongquan, and is called "Yan Muscle Willow Bone".
