A total of 233 pieces (sets) of related exhibits have been selected to present the colorful religious objects, accessories and daily necessities of the Himalayas and Mongolia from the 17th to the 20th centuries.
The Himalayas in the interior of Asia are home to a unique natural and cultural landscape. Located in Tibet, it is bordered by Nepal and Bhutan in the south and Mongolia in the north, and has maintained exchanges with the Han since ancient times, and gradually became the center of Tibetan Buddhism after the Tang and Song dynasties.
The exhibition is divided into two sections, "Sanskrit in the Snowy Land" and "The Desert in the Wilderness", using Tibetan Buddhism as a clue to connect the Himalayas with the exhibits in Mongolia.
This exhibition is an inter-museum collaboration between the museum and the Art Museum of the University of Chinese of Hong Kong, and the exhibits are mainly from the collections of Hong Kong Cheng Training Hall and Mengdiexuan.
