Where are the best bars in the world?

On the evening of March 18, the much-anticipated 2023 National Awards Ceremony for the Fan Bar Industry came to an end at the Shanghai Centre Theater.

2023 is a year of rejuvenation and rejuvenation for the Chinese bar industry. Throughout the year, we also witnessed more and more exchanges between the international bartending family: Chinese bartenders went abroad, overseas bartenders visited to host exciting guest bartenders and other events. We were very pleased to see that more than 800 bar industry insiders, brand partners and media guests from home and abroad were invited to attend the event to toast the achievements of China's bar industry in the past year.

The awards ceremony kicked off at 3:30 p.m. with a Jameson-themed green carpet warm-up party at the Shanghai Centre Retail Plaza. At 5 o'clock, the welcome reception was grandly opened in the atrium of Shanghai Centre. Around 20 green bars run by internationally renowned bartenders offer a range of cocktails, mixes, wines, beers and soft drinks, including Shingo Gokan (Sip & Guzzle, New York), Nico de Soto (Danico Paris), Daniele Dala Pola (Kaona), Terry Kim (Alice Seoul) and Alastair Burgess (Happiness Forgets, London), John Nugent (The Diplomat, Hong Kong), Nikita Matveev (The Old Man, Hong Kong), Allen Fang (DreamSicle, Shanghai), Filippo Sanchi (Lennon's, Bangkok), and many more.

At 6:30 p.m., the curtain of the Shanghai Centre Theatre slowly opened, and the awards officially began. A total of 18 awards were set up in this year's national awards ceremony, and only the elite of China's bar industry elite can walk on this glorious podium. This year's list of winners includes industry leaders from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Changsha, once again showcasing the vitality and diversity of China's bar scene.

It is worth mentioning that one of the most important awards, "Bartender of the Year", was won by Tian Yao from Chongqing Flavor Lounge, and in 2021, the winner of this award was his mentor and founder of Flavor Lounge, Zhang Min. This touching moment is a testament to how important and wonderful the legacy between bartenders is. "Jimmy is a very capable and progressive person, and there is always something in him that I can't learn, and I have learned from him the ability to keep learning. After being named Bartender of the Year, the future will remain the same for me, which is to make a good glass of wine and serve every customer. Tian Yao said after receiving the award.
