IT Home reported on February 24 that Apple will launch the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models in 2022 and introduce a new "Dynamic Island" design, which not only cleverly conceals the punch hole, but also brings a new interactive experience, which can display system prompts, sports scores and other messages.

Compared with the previous "notch design", the Dynamic Island makes better use of the space around the front camera and Face ID sensor. MacRumors, a foreign technology media, based on internal channel news and through the form of rendered pictures, more intuitively shared Apple's design exploration from "bangs design" to "dynamic island".

Pop-up easter egg on the right

Before adopting the Dynamic Island, Apple designed a pop-up menu on the right side of the screen that gave users quick access to the time, cellular and Wi-Fi strength, display brightness, volume, and battery level. The menu is essentially like a second groove that disappears when not in use.

Completely black status bar

Another idea that Apple has considered is to adopt an all-black status bar area at the top of the screen to hide the recess. OLED displays display black by turning off individual pixels, so this design will help save battery life.

Evolve to the Dynamic Island

Apple's design team later came up with the concept of the "Dynamic Island" and explored a variety of different designs for it, as shown in the image below.

Apple initially permanently elongated the Dynamic Island across the top of the screen, but later decided to change its size as needed to reduce distractions. Apple has also considered displaying volume and a full row of system shortcuts in the Dynamic Island, in addition to designing the call status.

Since then, Apple has expanded the Dynamic Island to all iPhone 15 models, while continuing to sell the iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus with notch.

It was previously reported by IT Home that Apple plans to move the iPhone's front-facing camera and Face ID sensor under the display, but this transition is not expected to begin until next year at the earliest.
