Recently, Xi'an Xianyang Airport Customs seized a total of 494 pieces of general cultural relics at the scene of passenger inspection and exit.

When supervising the outbound flight, the on-site customs officer found that there was an abnormality in the image of an undeclared checked baggage, and immediately contacted the party concerned to open the box for inspection. The inspection found that there were a total of 672 pieces of glazed bowls, bronze mirrors, ancient coins, etc., suspected cultural relics that had not been declared to the customs. According to the appraisal report issued by the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Appraisal Center, it was determined that there were 494 pieces of general cultural relics that were prohibited from leaving the country, including glazed bowls, bronze mirrors, copper smoke pots, iron rights, ancient coins of the Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, blue and white porcelain plates and silver dollars in the Republic of China, and coins in the Meiji period of Japan.

Customs reminds: According to the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Cultural Relics, the export of cultural relics shall be examined and approved by the cultural relics entry and exit examination institutions designated by the administrative department for cultural relics under the State Council. Cultural relics that have been approved to leave the country after examination and approval shall be issued an exit permit by the administrative department for cultural relics under the State Council, and shall be exported from the ports designated by the administrative department for cultural relics under the State Council. Any unit or individual transporting, mailing or carrying cultural relics out of the country shall declare to the Customs, and the Customs shall release them on the basis of the cultural relics export permit. If the smuggling of cultural relics constitutes a crime, criminal responsibility shall be investigated according to law; if the smuggling act constitutes a crime but does not constitute a crime, the customs shall impose penalties in accordance with the provisions of the relevant laws and administrative regulations.
