The new Vantage is still powered by a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine purchased from Mercedes-AMG, which has increased its maximum horsepower to 665 horsepower, which is more than 150 horsepower compared to the old model, and this is not just the result of a few pounds of supercharging, as we mentioned earlier, the new car uses a new cam, a larger turbocharger, and a higher compression ratio. In addition, the new car is equipped with three new heat exchangers to manage the temperature of the coolant and charge air, and the size of the oil cooling has been increased.
Matching it is ZF's 8AT, which is an old partner. The new Vantage is still rear-wheel drive and equipped with an electronic limited-slip differential, while the gear ratio of the last stage of the transmission has been shortened to 3.083:1, which accelerates faster without affecting the top speed, so that the new Vantage accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the old model, while the top speed can be increased to 325 km/h.
As with the old model, some parts of the new model are still glued together, which Aston Martin believes will allow for greater structural flexibility in the chassis. Today, the chassis has been optimised, with enhanced torsional rigidity, a new crossover assembly at the front of the chassis, and enhanced front suspension stiffness to further improve steering feel. In addition, the suspension struts have also become lighter and stiffer.
The shock absorbers are equipped with Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, which, together with the newly tuned chassis, make the new car even more prominent. It's hard to articulate on paper, but Aston Martin says the difference between the old and new chassis will be very noticeable.
In terms of braking system, the new car is equipped with six-piston calipers with a diameter of 400 mm on the front axle and a four-piston caliper with a diameter of 360 mm on the rear axle. Customers can choose to install carbon-ceramic brake discs according to their own needs, which can reduce the unsprung mass by 27kg.
After talking about the hardware, Aston Martin also said that the software part of the new car has also been optimized. Various traction management modes, ejection control and electronic power steering have been improved to provide the driver with better performance and driving engagement.
