After five trials in absentia, Chen Liren, a suspect in Google's wife murder case, finally attended the sixth trial on February 9.
February 9 is China's Chinese New Year's Eve, but many Chinese in the United States who are concerned about this case still choose to come to the Santa Clara County Courthouse in California to observe the trial of the murder case.
Twenty-four days after the incident, Chen Liren appeared in public for the first time. Although the court strictly prohibits taking photos and screenshots, some Chinese present managed to take photos of Chen Liren's appearance in court.

There are two theories about Chen Liren's helmet on the Internet.
One theory is that this helmet is a "humane restraint softshell protective helmet" for the court, which is usually used to prevent suspects from self-harm and suicide.
The second theory comes from an American netizen's message, saying that this helmet is a mental activity monitoring device for forensic science to collect evidence, which is used by experts to analyze the psychological state and assess whether the suspect has mental illness.
Personally, I prefer the second statement, after all, if you want to commit suicide and self-harm, there is not only one way to hit the wall.
To the disappointment of all Chinese and foreign Chinese who are concerned about this case, there is still no progress in this trial on the case as a whole. The process and motive of Chen Liren's murder of his wife are almost not discussed.
The entire trial lasted only a few minutes, and three main things were determined:
First, the judge asked Chen Liren if he needed the translation services provided by the court, to which Chen Liren began to confidently say that he did not need it.
However, the judge advised not to take this risk, as a professional interpreter can help him understand the U.S. court process and what the defense is talking about.
After Chen Liren thought about it, he changed his words and needed a translator.
second, the judge pleaded guilty to the suspect, to which Chen Liren's reply was "not guilty";
Third, after exchanging views with the defense and prosecution, the judge announced that Chen Liren's next trial would be held at 1:30 p.m. on April 19.
It seems that the judicial process of Lao Mei is different from that of the mainland, and this trial is equivalent to a lonely trial.
After the trial, Chen Liren's lawyer, Schroeder, was interviewed on the sidelines. Regarding Chen Liren's mental health of public concern, Schroeder declined to comment, saying that it was confidential information.
Asked if Mr. Chen would apply for a psychiatric evaluation, Mr. Schroeder said it was common in such cases. This also once again verifies that Schroeder will probably use mental disorder as a defense to fight for Chen Liren's innocence or commutation of sentence.

Compared with Chen Liren's father, Chen Fu, who rushed to the United States quickly after the case and spent a lot of money to hire a professional team of lawyers for Chen Liren to bail and defend his innocence, Yu Xuan's parents, who are ordinary retired teachers, are much weaker.

Another colleague of Chen Liren also said: "Working at Google, everyone has pressure, and the company also provides many ways to consult and help employees. It is unlikely that stress can lead to this outcome. ”
Regarding the voices of the above Chen and Yu colleagues, many indignant netizens said that this is washing the floor for murderers!
Personally, I don't think it's okay to talk about it, people are extremely complex animals, and it is fair to say that it is a fact that Chen Liren brutally killed his wife, but in the eyes of his colleagues, he is "very cheerful and very righteous" is also very likely to be true.
Although it is still a mystery to see Chen Liren's motive for killing his wife, it is not an unbelievable shocking that the "obedient and intelligent" Wu Xie Yu will kill his mother, and the "cheerful, righteous, and almost perfect" Chen Liren will kill his wife.
