Japanese media claimed that during the military exercise, a Chinese reconnaissance ship appeared nearby and watched, and the distance between it and the US aircraft carrier was even shortened to about 10 kilometers.

According to Japanese media reports, Japanese reporters were allowed to board the C-2A "Greyhound" transport plane and go to the deck of the US aircraft carrier "Carl Vinson". Japanese media speculate that Chinese ships are tracking the movements of the US and Japanese fleets, including the collection of electronic information and communication content.

For an aircraft carrier, such a distance is already very close. According to public information, China has a batch of Type 815 electronic reconnaissance ships, which have a displacement of about 6,000 tons and a hull length of 130 meters.
