  • Testing for sexually transmitted diseases is free and confidential.
  • STI vending machines are designed to reduce infection rates.
  • In one year, 2,536 kits were delivered, of which 74 per cent were for sexually transmitted infections and the remainder for HIV.

In Brighton and Bristol, vending machines have appeared, giving away free STI test kits. Over the past year, thousands of kits have been distributed, of which more than 70 per cent are generic packages for sexually transmitted diseases and the rest are HIV-specific packages. The pilot project was driven by a record number of gonorrhea and syphilis cases. There were nearly 100,000 cases in 2022, the highest number in 100 years. Following the success of the project, the authorities are considering expanding the project to other cities.

Also in the UK, HIV Testing Week is organised every year. The campaign began in 2012 and allows people to get tested for free at home or at testing centers. Luohua News Agency
