In order to accompany children to spend a happy, fulfilling and interesting Spring Festival and experience the charm of traditional culture, on the morning of February 5, 2024, with the support of the Jiulongpo District Civil Affairs Bureau, the Jiulongpo District Charity Association, the Jiulongpo District Women's Federation and the People's Government of Xipeng Town, the spring social workers of the Social Work Station of Chongqing Jiangbei Spring Social Work Service Center in Xipeng Town, together with the Lijiahe Village Villager Committee, carried out a handicraft theme activity of "skillfully cutting window flowers and welcoming the New Year with laughter".
At the beginning of the activity, the social worker invited the children to share the legend and story about the Spring Festival, and one child spoke enthusiastically to tell the story of the New Year Beast. The social worker supplemented the child based on the child's description. Then, the social worker shared the Spring Festival customs of his hometown according to the habits of his hometown, which resonated with parents and children, and invited the children to share their stories during the Spring Festival. The children spoke freely and expressed their thoughts. Based on the children's descriptions, the social worker supplemented the Spring Festival customs and some allusions and legends related to the customs, such as sacrificing stoves, pressing New Year's money, keeping the New Year, and pasting window flowers, etc., which the children and parents listened to with relish.
Window grilles are an ancient traditional Spring Festival custom, which can not only set off the festive atmosphere, but also bring people a beautiful experience. The content of the window grille is rich and the subject matter is wide, such as drama characters, flowers, birds, fish and insects, landscapes, real life, historical legends, etc., all of which can be used as the performance content of the window grille. Before the start of window cutting, the social worker played a game of "shoot and place" with the parents and children, moving their hands and focusing on the children's attention. When cutting window grilles, each person will have a piece of red paper, and the social worker will teach and demonstrate the method of window grille paper-cutting. A piece of red paper, a pair of scissors, the style of the window grille gradually appeared in everyone's hands, maybe there is a step or two did not keep up, other children will also actively help others, together to learn to cut the window grille. In this process, parents and children alike feel the charm of traditional customs and the happiness brought to everyone!
Through this activity, parents and children felt the charm of traditional customs and traditional arts, and when the beautiful window flowers were formed, everyone also felt a full sense of happiness and achievement!
