Recently, Ms. Xu, a citizen of Jiangsu, and several friends, 6 adults and 8 children had a dinner at a hot pot restaurant. During the banquet, everyone felt unwell, and some children even fainted on the spot, and were rushed to the hospital by 120 and diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning. Fortunately, the treatment was timely, and the adults and children have been discharged from the hospital one after another. After a preliminary investigation, the accident was caused by the improper use of charcoal, and at present, the hot pot restaurant has been ordered to close for rectification.

At about 15:00 on December 16, 2023, a carbon monoxide poisoning accident occurred in a self-built rental house in Nanban Community, Xiaodian District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, resulting in 29 injuries.
The direct cause of the accident was preliminarily determined to be that the boiler was installed in a closed room without ventilation facilities, the combustion in the boiler was insufficient, and the flue gas contained a certain concentration of carbon monoxide, which overflowed through the gap between the boiler body and the flue, resulting in the poisoning of many tenants.
