【2023 Annual Joint Venture SUV Sales Ranking】In 2023, the overall sales of joint venture vehicles in the domestic market declined, but the sales of joint venture SUVs continued to grow. According to the data of the Passenger Association, the cumulative retail sales of joint venture brand SUVs in 2023 will be 4.379 million units, a year-on-year increase of 2.1%, and the sales volume will increase by 93,000 units.
Specifically, there are 13 models of joint venture SUVs that will sell more than 100,000 units in 2023. Tesla's Model Y is the standout, winning the joint venture SUV sales championship with 456394 units sold, accounting for more than 10% of the joint venture SUV market.
The three compact SUVs from Japan, Honda CR-V, Toyota Fenglanda, and Toyota RAV4, ranked second to fourth, with annual sales of 194376, 183175, and 182058 units, respectively.
As the sales champion of the fuel mid-size SUV in 2023, the Volkswagen Tiguan L ranks fifth in the joint venture SUV sales list with 161,450 units sold.
Toyota's Veranda and Corolla Ruifang both sold more than 140,000 units, ranking sixth and seventh.
The Audi Q5L performed well, ranking eighth with 139481 units sold, and won the top spot in the sales of luxury fuel mid-size SUVs. The Volkswagen Tanyue followed in ninth place with 125977 units sold.
The sales of three models, including Honda Haoying, BMW X3 and Nissan Qashqai, have reached 110,000+ units, ranking 10th to 12th. Mercedes-Benz GLC also sold more than 100,000 units, ranking 13th with 106851 units sold.
The sales of the Volkswagen Tuyue, Buick Envision, and BMW X5 all reached 90,000+ units, ranking 14th to 16th. Compared to the previous year, sales of Volkswagen Tuyue and Buick Envision both declined.
In 17th to 19th place are three models, including the BMW X1, Jetta VS5, and Toyota Highlander, with retail sales of more than 70,000 units in 2023. Among them, the BMW X1 sold 78,270 units, which is the sales champion of luxury compact SUVs in 2023, and the Highlander, as the benchmark model of the joint venture medium-sized 7-seater SUV, has 73,437 units for the whole year, ranking 19th.
The sales of three models, including Mercedes-Benz GLB, Volvo XC60 and Volkswagen Tange T-ROC, have reached 60,000+ units, with an average monthly sales of more than 5,000 units, ranking 20th to 22nd. Among them, the Volvo XC60 is the best-selling model among the second-tier luxury SUVs.
The Honda XR-V, which sold more than 100,000 units in 2022, sold only 52,608 units in 2023, down 48.0% year-on-year, ranking only 24th. The sales of its sister model, Binzhi, were as low as 40,127 units, down 63.2% year-on-year, ranking only 29th.
The BMW iX3 became the best-selling joint venture new energy SUV model after the Tesla Model Y, with annual sales of 39,419 units, ranking 30th in the joint venture SUV sales list.
The Volkswagen ID.4 CROZZ ranked 31st, with 37,558 units sold in 2023, down from 2022. The smart #1 also sold more than 30,000 units, ranking 34th with 33,899 units sold.
