When high temperature becomes a global climate cycle, automobiles, as the carrier of travel, will bring new challenges to vehicle safety due to their anti-aging performance, electronic and electrical stability, and VOC gas volatility such as pentabenzotraldehyde in the cabin in a high-temperature environment.
In view of the safety of using vehicles in high temperatures, the China Automotive Research Institute has set up a challenge question of "high temperature and high humidity sun simulation", and the new Dongfeng Peugeot 4008 has conducted more than 300 hours of extreme high temperature light tests. After the test, the all-new 4008 has achieved excellent results such as no discoloration of the paint exposure to the sun, the gap change value of the interior and exterior trim parts is twice lower than the industry average, the VOC volatilization in the cockpit is far lower than the national standard at room temperature at high temperature, and the automotive-grade electronic and electrical appliances have exceeded the test, becoming a new benchmark for the reliability of compact joint venture SUVs.
Demanding conditions that far exceed industry standards: 300+ hours of continuous air at 45°C, and 1000±100 W/m?full-spectrum illumination
The core of this test is to rigorously test the reliability of the vehicle at high temperatures with standards that far exceed the industry standards. The test was carried out in the high-temperature lighting laboratory of the China Automotive Center, and the test chamber used 24 German Honle light sources to form a full-spectrum sunlight simulation system. During the test, the air temperature in the test chamber was maintained at 45°C, which is comparable to the hottest area in China, the Turpan Huoshan area in Xinjiang. At the same time, the irradiation intensity in the test chamber was maintained at 1000±100 W/m?. In the natural environment, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the place of solar radiation in China, and there are 16 hours of sunlight a day in summer, of which the time that can reach more than 1000W/㎡ light intensity is only noon, less than 2 hours.
In this test, the air temperature of 45°C in the test cabin, combined with continuous long-term lighting, combined with the two already very harsh working conditions, undoubtedly put forward higher requirements for the aging resistance of the vehicle. The dashboard section of the new 4008 has reached a temperature point of 106.2°C, while the rear door trim has reached 91.6°C, the coat rack has reached 90.7°C, the front bumper has reached 82.2°C, and the cabin air temperature has reached 81.8°C.
Paint discoloration and loss test: radio and television standard, average Delta E is 0.20
Under the heat wave and scorching sun, the temperature of the metal sheet and trim parts on the outer layer of the vehicle can reach 60-80°C, and the high-intensity UV ultraviolet rays will accelerate the aging of the car paint, resulting in the loss of color and cracking of the car paint. In order to more accurately reflect the loss of matte and discoloration of the paint color, the Delta E indicator in the color perception space was used in this test. A higher Delta E value indicates a greater color deviation. The current industry standard is Delta E 1.5, which is the color limit value that can be distinguished by the human eye. In mobile phone products for daily use, Delta E can be controlled below 1. For example, everyone thinks that Apple's mobile phone has good colors, and the objects on the screen are highly consistent with the colors presented by objects in the real world. This is because the average Delta E of Apple phones is low, for example, the average Delta E value of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is about 0.8, which breaks the resolution limit of the human eye.
In the automotive industry, with reference to the GB/T1766-2008 standard, Delta E less than 1.5 can be regarded as the front and rear color difference grade is 0, that is, there is no color difference. In the test, CAERI selected the exterior paint coating, interior instrument panel, door interior panel, central control armrest, seat headrest and other key parts of the 4008 that are prone to aging and discoloration for testing. After 300 hours of exposure to high temperatures, the maximum color accuracy deviation of these parts was not more than 0.46, the minimum was only 0.04, and the average Delta E was 0.20, far exceeding the standard. The new 4008 body paint comes from international chemical giants such as PPG or BASF, and is a two-component water-based high-temperature paint, which has completed more than 20 test tests in strict accordance with STLA global technical standards, including more than 1500 hours of ultraviolet and thermal cycling tests, to ensure that this car can be used for a long time no matter where in the world.
Vehicle high temperature gap test: before and after the test, the maximum gap between the interior and exterior trim parts is thinner than a silk
All kinds of abnormal noises and vibrations are also a problem for many users. The ultra-high temperature environment will cause the thermal expansion and contraction of steel, aluminum, plastic and other materials in the interior exterior, resulting in an increase in the assembly gap, and in severe cases, the vehicle will shake and cause functional damage. The DTS defines the clearances and tolerances of the vehicle during the design and manufacturing process. At present, the deformation gap of the whole vehicle in the automotive industry is generally controlled at 0.2mm.
After 300 hours of ultra-high temperature exposure, the new 4008 has a minimum of 0.0 mm and a maximum of 0.1 mm in the gap between the exterior and interior parts of the vehicle, which is equivalent to the thickness of a silk, and has entered the "silk unit" in the eyes of mechanical workers, which is close to the limit range that can be recognized by the human eye. In the automotive industry, most brands have a clearance control standard of 0.2 mm at high temperatures, and the new 4008 is twice as low as the industry average.
High-temperature testing of electronic and electrical appliances: Automotive-grade chips provide stability in extreme cold and heat
Every summer, many vehicles fail in the air conditioning and refrigeration system after being exposed to the sun, making the cockpit become a sauna in seconds, which reflects the stability of the vehicle's electronic and electrical equipment at high temperatures. Not only that, but with the advent of the intelligent era, cars may also provide assisted driving functions through more advanced perception devices such as radar and cameras. High temperatures can challenge the vehicle's active safety system, leading to more fatal accidents.
In the test cabin of CAERI, the new 4008 has undergone 300+ hours of continuous high-intensity irradiation, and the air temperature in the cabin has reached 81.8 °C, and even the instrument panel has reached 106.2 °C.
In order to adapt to the reliability of vehicle electronic and electrical components in extremely cold and hot environments, the new 4008 adopts the highest automotive-grade chips and electrical equipment, and its minimum operating temperature is minus 45°C, which is consistent with the coldest Antarctic region, and the operating temperature is 120°C, which is equivalent to the temperature of an air fryer. In addition, a car contains tens of thousands of large and small control chips and mechanical devices, and integrating them together to achieve system-level safety and reliability reflects the car-making heritage and verification level of car companies. Peugeot is a century-old car company with a rigorous and system-level manufacturing system and verification system. For example, while many cars only have four rounds of validation, the new 4008 has six rounds of validation, and the extra two rounds of commissioning means that the new 4008 needs to undergo more than 300 additional rigorous tests. Moreover, 4008 has also undergone 12 kinds of extreme road surfaces, more than 1,100 vehicle tests, and more than 2 million kilometers of durability verification, which is very confident in terms of quality.
High-temperature odor test in the car: super environmentally friendly materials, VOC emissions meet the standard of children's preferred green cockpit
After the summer sun, the vehicle odor lingers for a long time, like a "gas chamber", which not only endangers the health of people's skin and respiratory mucosa, but also causes carcinogenicity to the human body and causes acute damage. TVOC gas emissions define the type and volatility of odor in the vehicle. In the normal temperature environment, the peak volatilization period of VOC gas can be maintained for 3-15 years, covering the whole life cycle of the vehicle. When the temperature gradually rises, the volatilization of TVOC gas in the whole vehicle will be further accelerated, which is harmful to health.
In the national standard test, the VOC of the whole vehicle is usually required to be measured at room temperature of 25 °C, and the results can be put on sale. In this test challenge, the new 4008 not only turned on the headlights with an irradiance of 400W/㎡ at the top of the laboratory on the basis of 25 °C at room temperature, which increased the temperature in the car to about 60 °C, but also doubled the national standard time to extend the high temperature baking time to 8 hours (the national standard is 3.5 hours).
Even under such harsh operating conditions, the TVOC of the new 4008, or Total Volatile Organic Compounds, is only 1.125 mg/m?. Previously, the Beijing Municipal and Tianjin Consumers' Associations carried out comparative tests on the air quality in the interior of 36 passenger cars, and among the 36 passenger cars, only 3 models had a high-temperature TVOC of less than 2mg/m?. Moreover, in this high-temperature VOC test, the formaldehyde content of the new 4008 is 0.072mg/m3, which is lower than the national standard of 0.10mg/m3 and meets the formaldehyde content standard (0.08mg/m3) of indoor buildings such as libraries and restaurants. The new 4008 toluene content is 0.087mg/m3, which is not only far lower than the national standard, but also meets the standard of indoor construction. The ethylbenzene content is 0.024mg/m3, which is 5 times lower than the national standard.
The conscience car, made by the dragon! Under the rigorous test environment and accurate evaluation system that far exceed the industry standard, the new 4008 has successfully completed the challenge, set a new benchmark for quality in high-temperature environments, and is worthy of the trust of consumers. This trust comes not only from the adherence to ultra-high standards of materials and car manufacturing heritage, but also from the verification of global users.
