At this year's Düsseldorf Boat Show, Riva unveiled its first all-electric day yacht, the El-Iseo, marking a new phase in Riva's 180-year history towards sustainable and cleaner maritime solutions.
Following its debut in prototype form at the Monaco Yacht Show last September, the final production version presented in Germany promises a cleaner, quieter and more efficient sailing experience. (Riva's parent company, Ferretti Group, also unveiled a new Wally range at the boat show.) The 27-foot yacht is equipped with a Parker GVM310 electric engine that produces between 250 kW and 300 kW, allowing it to cruise at 25 knots and reach a top speed of 40 knots.
El-Iseo prototype
Compared to a fuel powered yacht of its size, the El-Iseo has significantly better acceleration. The El-Iseo is equipped with a 150 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides up to 10 hours of battery life in economy mode before it needs to be recharged.
In addition to its impressive electric features, the El-Iseo retains Riva's signature classic design. The yacht has a distinctive windshield, a spacious interior cockpit, a wooden foredeck with a pinstripe design, and a large rear sunpad located above the engine case. The chrome accents on the lights, bollard corners and vents add a touch of elegance, while the bow is adorned with a beautiful and functional anchor that is extremely functional and aesthetically pleasing. The production version is even sleeker than the basic white prototype, with a striking metallic blue exterior and an elegant two-tone interior.
On top of that, the interior of the open El-Iseo features an ultra-modern digital helm station, with a touchscreen instrument panel reminiscent of the analogue dials of Riva's classic boat models. Xenta's integrated onboard electrical system provides seamless control. The yacht offers three drive modes – Allegro (Extreme), Andante (Fast) and Adagio (Slow)
According to Ferretti Group, El-Iseo has completed its final testing cycle and the official version is ready for sale. There is no word on the price yet. But the price of the best three electric yachts on the market is between $329,000 and $695,000. Considering the savings on fuel, this price is actually quite cost-effective.
