There is a small square next to the subway station at the west entrance of Zhongshanmen Road in Guangzhou, there is a Ming-style archway in front of it, engraved with two rows of words, the top is four words "has not been championed", and the lower is "Lunwenxu Memorial Square", which is a square that highlights the local historical and cultural heritage style of Guangzhou.
For Lun Wenxu, I believe that Cantonese people are very familiar with him, there are many legends about him, he is the champion of the Ming Dynasty, is a native of Liyong Village, Nanhai County, Guangdong Province (now Lanshi Liyong Village, Chancheng District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province).
Although Lun Wenxu's family was poor, his father Lun Xian, who also studied when he was a child, failed to take the road of the imperial examination because of poverty, so he pinned all his hopes on his son. In his spare time, his father diligently taught Xiao Lun to write and read, memorize Tang poems and Song poems, and developed his habit of being diligent and inquisitive. Lun Wenxu is intelligent by nature and very hard-working, talented, at the age of seven near the teacher of He Shu, he was taken as a student for free.
Lun Wenxu is intelligent and very hard-working, and will soon be able to write and poetry, and must be among the best in every attempt, full of talent, and famous, known as "prodigy", "urgent talent", and "ghost talent". Later, although the teacher's death made Lun Wenxu study, he still concentrated on studying while managing his livelihood.
In 1499, Lun Wenxu won the first place in both the general examination and the palace examination, became the champion, and was awarded the Hanlin Academy for revision.
In addition to the archway, the square is composed of Lunwenxu granite stone carved figures, marble carved murals and cast bronze heads, etc., and there is a champion mansion for visitors to visit and understand the life anecdotes of Lunwenxu.
