The 8 fireworks acts are Dragon and Tiger Leap, Eight Stars Annunciating Good Fortune, Flowers Like Jinjiang Nannan, Home in Hong Kong, Future I Come, I Love, You Raise Me Up and Harvest Gong and Drum, with many auspicious and festive fireworks effects.

The Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Star Multimedia Productions, Mr Mok Wai-shing, who was responsible for the production of the fireworks, said that the biggest highlight of this year's show was the widening of the scope of the fireworks. The 45-minute Chinese New Year fireworks display will be held in Guangzhou on the first day of the Lunar New Year, which is nearly twice as long as Hong Kong's, and Mr Mo said that Victoria Harbour's nighttime is recognised for its world-renowned nightlife, and its unique fireworks are believed to be more attractive internationally. Members of the public will be able to watch the fireworks display at various locations such as Tsim Sha Tsui, Mid-Levels, Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Hung Hom Bypass, while RTHK Radio 4 (FM97.6-98.9) will broadcast the background music of the fireworks display. The whole fireworks display has a budget of 13 million yuan and is sponsored by the Hong Kong Celebrations Committee.
