In addition, the "Guiding Opinions on the Digital Transformation of the Banking and Insurance Industry" issued by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission clearly stated that it is necessary to promote the transformation of the traditional architecture to the distributed architecture. From centralized to distributed, the core system upgrade is promoted by the credit accounting system

Founded in 2009, Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank is the first prefecture-level joint-stock rural commercial bank in China, ranking 52nd in the "2023 Top 100 Chinese Banking Industries" released by the China Banking Association. While the banking business is developing rapidly, its diversity and complexity make the IT architecture of Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank face many challenges.

First of all, the core transaction system of Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank mostly adopts the traditional centralized architecture, which is difficult to meet the business needs of massive data, ultra-high concurrency, ultra-high peak, and second-level disaster recovery in remote computer rooms under the new trend of online and diversified financial business. At the same time, the complex and changeable international environment makes the information technology product supply chain face a complex and severe security situation, which brings certain risks and hidden dangers to the stability of the business. Under the dual pressure of internal financial innovation and external international environment, Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank urgently needs to accelerate the upgrading and transformation of its core systems, and migrate applications to a distributed database with higher performance, more secure and reliable, and more sustainable evolution support capabilities in order to effectively cope with the above problems.

In order to cope with the above challenges and lay a solid foundation for future development, Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank has formulated an implementation plan for information technology application innovation, which will take digital transformation as the engine in the next three years, strengthen basic technology research, and steadily promote the exploration and practice of information technology application innovation. Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank takes the distributed database as a pilot to explore and practice the distributed transformation of the core trading system, aiming to gradually realize the goal of independent innovation of software and hardware of the information system, and ensure that the system function is not lost, the performance and security level are not reduced, and the availability and reliability of the business are guaranteed. Among them, the credit accounting system, one of the bank's three traditional core systems, has become the first core business system of Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank to carry out distributed transformation.

With high performance, high availability, and high security, GaussDB supports the distributed transformation of the credit accounting system

The credit accounting system is the core accounting system of the bank, which is responsible for the loan accounting of the whole bank of Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank, and has strict requirements for the performance, availability and security of the database. Through multiple rounds of testing and comparison of a number of mainstream database products in China, Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank selected GaussDB as the data base to carry out distributed transformation of the credit accounting system, achieving an overall improvement in performance, availability, and security.

Compared with the traditional centralized architecture, GaussDB has the advantage of high performance, which can fully meet the performance requirements of Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank's credit accounting night batch business scenario, and the system indicators under the GaussDB distributed architecture are 320% better than the previous ones compared with the traditional centralized architecture.

In terms of high availability, Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank adopts the GaussDB distributed deployment solution, using a 5-node main cluster + a 4-node disaster recovery cluster, which has the ability to resist node-level faults in the same city and the region-level disaster recovery capability across cities. With GaussDB's two-city, three-data center solution, the new system can achieve ultra-high availability with an RPO of ≤ of 5 seconds and an RTO of ≤ of 145 seconds.

In terms of high security, GaussDB uses multiple layers of security mechanisms, including user authentication, access control, and encrypted transmission. In addition, GaussDB supports multiple backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and reliability.

Batch non-inductive migration + application adaptation and transformation greatly reduce the workload of database migration

In addition to the above advantages, whether it can achieve easy deployment and migration in the database replacement scenario is also a key factor for financial institutions to consider in the transformation process. GaussDB has formed a complete set of methodologies for the application migration and transformation of core financial systems, that is, by using Application Migration Service (UGO) to migrate database objects and Data Replication Service (DRS) to migrate data, the two form a one-stop automatic migration solution to achieve two-way real-time synchronization of large-scale data and automatic migration of heterogeneous databases.

During the migration process, UGO can be used to automatically convert the syntax from traditional commercial databases to GaussDB, and the success rate of the conversion of traditional commercial database objects reaches more than 98%, which greatly reduces the workload of manual transformation and minimizes the cost of database migration. You can use DRS to migrate existing data, synchronize incremental data in real time, and verify the correctness of data migration.

In the process of application adaptation, GaussDB worked closely with Yusys Technologies, a credit accounting system provider, to adjust some SQL with special syntax to ensure the syntax compatibility with GaussDB database to the greatest extent, and at the same time, transform the credit accounting system of Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank into a distributed batch architecture to make full use of the characteristics of distributed database and improve the operation efficiency of the system.

GaussDB has helped Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank achieve a major breakthrough in the transformation of the credit accounting system and achieve comprehensive innovation in the underlying core and key technologies. Subsequently, the two parties will adapt and optimize the application scenarios of the credit accounting system, improve the application level of distributed databases in key business scenarios, and enhance the independent innovation ability of Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank in the core trading system. The successful transformation of the credit accounting system of Jiangnan Rural Commercial Bank also provides a model for the distributed transformation of the core system of other financial institutions.
