Previously, I reviewed the design and sound quality of 7 open-back true wireless earbuds. A few days ago, I got another batch, thinking that I would like to be familiar with the design characteristics and market development of such products as soon as possible.

After a period of observation, I found that the public's expectations for the sound quality of open-back true wireless earbuds do not seem to be as high as for in-ear TWS. Even though I don't think some models sound good, there aren't many buyers who are really indignant about it.

Well...... Low expectations lead to relatively high levels of satisfaction.

However, with the intensification of competition, the sound quality of such earphones will most likely become "better and better" in the future, just like the in-ear TWS, from a group of crooked melons and cracked dates in the early days to today's various ones are very good.

As of now, the best open-back true wireless earbuds in my hands are:

JBL音 、SIVGA SO2、思ElI sport1、 LinkBuds、 GoFree2。

The best one is the JBL one, and then SONY, SIVGA and Baseus are one echelon, and peat is another echelon.

Further down are some models from brands such as South Carolina, Rambler, Senna, etc.

Specifically:

The sound quality is very good: atmospheric, full, dynamic, clear details, JBL soundgear sound circle.

The sound quality is very good: natural, full, more bass atmosphere, Baseus Eli sport 1.

The sound quality is very good: natural, clear and comfortable bass atmosphere, SIVGA SO2.

The sound quality is good: wide, bright, and with little bass, the Sony LinkBuds are the ones.

The sound quality is good: the more natural, tight, and slightly less bass is the Peat GoFree 2.

The sound quality is good: but the tuning completion (specifically the analysis) is not high enough is the sound and width leap line AeroFit Pro.

The sound quality is good: the tuning completion is not high enough (slight plastic smell) is the South Carolina OE MIX.

The sound quality is okay: the tuning completion is not high enough (thinner) is the Senna Z90 PRO.

Bad sound quality: Locate the game's Edifier Hecate air 2.

Regarding the last one, you can talk about it briefly.

The low and low frequency ranges of the midrange and the amount of treble information are lacking, and the listening experience is too sharp and tight. I think this disadvantage has something to do with its form factor and its positioning in the "game" market. It seems to put more thought into the cool shape and RGB lighting. Indeed, its design is more unique than all of its competitors and is more suitable for inclusion in Trendy Digital magazine.

Originally, there was also a JVC NP50T, but for some reason, the opportunity to compare and comment was lost.

→ here, the shape of the Edifier Hecate is the most fashionable, but the larger cylindrical design makes it lose its portability. But it can still be tucked into a pocket.

The rest of the models are mostly flat shapes, which are very suitable for carrying.

→ Senna Z90 PRO charging case is "huge", among the hundreds of TWS I have contacted and collected in the past ten years, it seems to be the largest, and the portability is not optimistic. But it can also be tucked into a pocket.

→ second only to the Senna Z90 PRO charging case is Baseus Eli sport 1, which uses a stylish transparent cover design, and the internal earphone body is also beautiful, giving people a very beautiful feeling. But pay attention to "hold steady", because the whole body is slippery.

In fact, the charging compartment of Baseus Eli sport 1 is also relatively large, and even from the picture, it is similar to the Senna, but in fact, it is more particular about the handling of the edges, so it gives me a "big and reasonable" feeling.

→ SIVGA SO2's charging compartment is a conventional design, with a slightly business feel, and the overall size is more compact and easy to carry. In addition, it is also the one of the 10 OWS I recently talked about, even if it is a "black model", it has no fingerprint troubles at all. The other models that are also black plastic shells have a situation where they feel dirty after a few touches. Since many customers of this type of headphones are sports enthusiasts, considering the sweaty hands in summer, this may be a part that manufacturers need to pay attention to. In addition, the SO2 cabin seems to be scratch-resistant, and when you touch the upper cover, you will find that the texture is tough and distinctive.

→The Sony LinkBuds have a very small charging compartment, the portability is the best of all the OWS I've gathered, and the headphones have the most stylish shape.

In other words, Sony (Ambie) not only invented the pipe open true wireless XEA20 and ear clip-on open true wireless Ambie, but also the new ring open true wireless was also the first in the industry. Other brands, big and small, have only realized in recent years that they want to chase and imitate Ambie.

Thinking of this moment, I have mixed feelings in my heart.

I expect the next form of headphones to take the market by storm may be the ring diaphragm......

The sound wide leap line AeroFit Pro (1100 yuan +) is larger than the sound wide light jump line AeroFit (700 yuan +) to expand the diaphragm size, from the previous 14mm to 16.2mm. The shape of the cavity and earhooks has also changed, which allows the driver to be closer to the piercing.

In terms of sound, the loudness of the leap line is significantly higher than that of the light jumper, and it stands on the same level as some excellent open-back headphones.

The vocal thickness, moistness, low-frequency fullness and naturalness of these are all beyond the light leap line of positioning the flagship audiophile movement. Musicality is usually rich and bright. Except for the occasional music that requires high intensity and high speed, it will be a little "up to the top", but in most cases, it is quite pleasant and durable.

In terms of quality, the mid-to-high frequency details are unnatural, somewhat blurry, and lack a sense of delicacy.

The relatively low-end light jump line is still an old problem, the loudness is low, the hearing is also affected, and it looks thin, which I personally don't like. However, its IPX7-level waterproof ability is stronger than its own and other brands' flagships.

Senna Z90 PRO:

Similar to the first listening experience of the Edifier Heacate Air 2, there are bright mid and high frequencies, sharp voices, and thin voices, and the power of the lower plate is also lacking. Fortunately, its lines will be more stretched than those of the rambler, and you can feel that the sound field is relatively wider, so you can listen to it after listening for a long time.

In terms of tuning, the Senna Z90 PRO is somewhat similar to the Sony LinkBuds with a similar style, but the final combination of sound and quality (finish) is still better than Sony.;The price difference between the two is about 200.。

(The charging compartment of this earbud is very special, there are several buttons on the side of the bottom case facing the face, it seems to have other uses, this design is the first time I have seen it in true wireless earbuds)

倍思eli sport1:

The full range is full, the timbre is soft, and the details are relatively clear. Sound moist and natural. The vocal thickness is quite good in open-back headphones. The tuning is very scientific HIFI. Only at a volume above 9 percent can there be some slight loss of control that can be heard. It's usually natural and clear. The sound quality is good, close to the feel of some in-ear TWS. The low-end sense of volume is very good, similar to the feeling of Harman 2019, and even more than the volume of SIVGA SO2.

Baseus is a big brand, and the design from the charging compartment to the earphone body is impeccable, and the appearance is also quite good compared to other products. It feels like a very classic model, just like the Sony WI-SP500.

漫步者Hecate air2:

At first listen, one ear is thin, and regardless of the volume, all the knots are very "small".

The sound has a distinctly "plastic" smell, a mixture of sharp and stiff, even worse than the South Carolina OE MIX (which smells plastic at loud volumes). It sounds tight and sharp, with a severe lack of slack and thickness. It's not good.

After listening to it for a while, I found that it parsed quite well, and the smoothness from midrange to high frequency was also good. However, due to the fact that all the sound details are confined to a small sound field, it is difficult to express the full and atmospheric atmosphere, and the sound unit is relatively far away from the ear piercing, resulting in more low-frequency leakage, so when wearing normally, its lower plate power can not come out, and the middle and upper plates are very tight, and the purpose of everything seems to be just to let you hear some lines and general outlines of the midrange area.

I don't know if it's a diaphragm issue, but this headset is really the first OWS that made me feel that maybe it was necessary to "deliberately burn the camera".

The weird thing is that on JD.com, the buyer's comments on this model are very different from my feelings, and almost all of them feel very good. This may indicate that low-level gamers do not have high psychological expectations for sound quality, so "being able to hear clearly" may be a blessing.

And I am in the process of constantly switching and contrasting, discovering the differences and feeling the amazement and the gap. The general environment is different, the psychological state is different, and the "sense of hearing" is also "very different".

Finally, add some thoughts:

1. The above OWS, except for the edifier hecate air 2 because the cavity is designed as a thick polygonal block, which affects a little bit of comfort with the ear, the rest of the models have no real shortcomings in terms of wearing, in terms of comfort, they are indeed better than in-ear or bone conduction, and they are also very suitable for lying on the side (sleeping), leaning against objects on the back of the neck (resting), and complex and intense exercise conditions. If the listening concept of this small in-ear speaker is played at the best level, it may even affect the sales of traditional in-ear products......

2. Sound quality (loudness, fullness, clarity) is only one of the items of open true wireless earbuds, and many manufacturers will work other functions or performance in order to enhance the competitiveness of their products. Such as waterproof level, latency, supported codecs, APP function expansion, battery life related, unique gameplay, etc. When purchasing, it is necessary for consumers to consider their actual situation in multiple dimensions.
