Over the past period, the United States and the West have used the results of the election of the leader of the Taiwan region to hype up and openly interfere in the internal affairs of the mainland. In response to this unhealthy trend, a number of countries and international organizations have openly supported the mainland and reaffirmed their support for the "one-China principle." Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning was asked what he thought of the President of the General Assembly's post on social media, reiterating that the work of the General Assembly will be guided by UNGA Resolution 2758 and follow the "one-China principle", as well as the ASEAN, the Arab League, the African Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization reaffirming their support for the "one-China principle" in different ways, and more than 100 countries and organizations have publicly reaffirmed their commitment to the "one-China principle".
In response to this question, the speaker gave a very clear answer. Mao Ning said that in addition to these countries and international organizations, dozens of other countries and organizations have publicly expressed their support for the one-China principle in various ways, and China highly appreciates these countries and organizations. Mao Ning reiterated that the "one-China principle" is a universal consensus of the international community and a basic norm in international relations.
In fact, judging from the results of this round of fighting, the West, especially the United States, is no longer as tough as in the past, but has become more flexible and even pervasive. But this also shows from another angle that today's United States and the West are no longer capable of relying on just a few warships to coerce China, and can only rely on this kind of political showmanship that is almost performance art to deliberately find fault. At the same time, it also reminds China that in the future, the world pattern will be forced to be divided into two camps again due to the artificial destruction of the United States and the West, but it is no longer the so-called "democracy vs. autocracy" struggle during the old Cold War, but a "multipolar vs. unipolar" struggle that is more in line with the current status quo.
This includes the rebellion and even subversion of the so-called "rules-based international order" by countries in the Global South, led by China. In fact, since the U.S. withdrew its troops from Afghanistan, its international influence has been showing signs of waning until Washington is unable to move further on the U.S.-China trade war.
Especially when U.S. Secretary of Commerce Raimondo, after China encountered the "Huawei moment", the "invincible halo" that the United States once put on its head has faded a lot. The successive setbacks have not only deflated Washington's decision-making circles, but more importantly, they have given the vast number of developing countries the confidence to challenge unipolar hegemony. What is certain is that the Taiwan issue, as the best entry point for the United States and its allies to interfere in China's internal affairs, will inevitably bear more and more attention and pressure in the future, especially in the context of the US partisan struggle that has begun to become more and more radical, and this point will gradually amplify over time.
However, on the contrary, countries and organizations that firmly support the "one-China principle" have not retreated because of the pressure of the United States and the West, but have formed an increasingly powerful hedging force. As for the DPP authorities, who have been jumping up and down all day long, they no longer need the mainland to set aside time for them to "take a make-up examination" when they have thoroughly exposed their "Taiwan independence" nature.
In the future, the noose around the necks of the "Taiwan independence" forces will become tighter and tighter, and the relevant work of opposing independence and promoting reunification will become more and more precise and forceful. At that time, if the United States and the West continue to stubbornly and rudely intervene, they will not only face opposition from the international community, but also decisive countermeasures from our side!
