I was deeply honored and ashamed to learn that I won the title of the top ten young commentators of the "Green Pepper Plan" of the red network in 2023. I would like to thank the direct senior sisters who took me on the road of news commentary, and I would like to thank the red network for providing such a precious display platform for college students, and I would like to thank all the editors for their recognition and love.
I still remember that on July 10, 2023, with apprehension, I submitted the first online review on the Red Chili Pepper platform "How to break the dilemma of bus development due to the turmoil caused by the suspension of the line?". Fortunately, the manuscript was accepted that evening. It was the first time I had seen my independently signed work published on a news website, and I was so happy and proud that I didn't need to say much. More importantly, this gave me, as a journalism student, a wonderful feeling of "entering the industry", and I had a small corner of my own in the vast field of news and public opinion.
Along the way, I have been fortunate to publish more than a dozen online reviews, during which my mood has fluctuated several times.
Online review writing has helped me improve my ability to express myself rapidly. When I first started writing online reviews, I always seemed a little unsure because I hadn't taken the relevant courses offered by the school. Or the argument is not clear, or the language is complicated and verbose, or the structure level is insufficient, a thousand-word article has to be written for two hours without speaking, and the finished product is often unbearable to look at directly. So, while learning the excellent works of other peers on the Xi platform, I borrowed a review anthology and a review tutorial to make up for the crazy lessons. I will list an outline for every comment on "The E Voice" and "Freezing Point Review", and the People's Online Review and Jimu Rui Review have become the most frequently visited columns on my mobile phone. As I read and think more day after day, my writing skills have improved significantly.
Online review writing has taught me to express my opinions rationally and objectively. Once upon a time, "impartiality and objectivity" was still just a cold word in "Introduction to Journalism", and it was only when I really began to participate in the expression of opinions on the Internet that I realized the deep meaning behind these four words. I used to like to follow the trend and "stand in line", but I gradually began to realize that in order to make my writing convincing and not fall into the quagmire of extremism, I asked the writer to take the initiative to contact the party that contradicted his own concepts, think from the perspective of the two parties, find the contradiction point of conflict between interests and concepts, and then make a judgment. After all, the purpose of the comment is to pinpoint the disadvantages of the times, to stir up turbidity and promote purity, not to put a certain party in a place where there is no return.
Online review writing has significantly broadened my knowledge. It is often said that journalists are "miscellaneous" and need to know all aspects of society, and it is best to have one or two areas of special specialization, which is even more obvious in online review writing. For example, I'm a public transport enthusiast myself, and whenever I come across relevant news, I write very smoothly. What kind of considerations the bus company has, what angle does the vehicle manufacturer start, and what do passengers think about it, different angles and different stakeholders naturally emerge in my mind, and this is all thanks to my usual obsessive hobby and exploration in related fields. However, if I encounter a field that I have completely unknown knowledge, I will probably not try to do it in a way, lest the work be biased and ridiculous. Therefore, I actively understand all aspects of society, from culture, sports and entertainment, to economic construction, from the frontier of science and technology, to policy reform, I read relevant literature, browse the official website, study policy materials, and inquire about expert interpretations, although limited to my own lack Xi of experience and knowledge, but I still work hard to learn, digest, and absorb, so as to lay a solid foundation for my future writing and even future work.
In the current social public opinion environment, with the rapid development of the Internet and the continuous emergence of self-media, society is entering an era of "everyone has a microphone". People no longer rely on authoritative media for distant news, and more and more people are starting to express their opinions online. This is an era of information explosion, and the increasingly obvious "decentralization" of the online public opinion field has challenged the influence of traditional media like never before.
However, it seems to me that it is in this context that journalistic commentary becomes more precious. In the complex field of public opinion, the duty and mission of news commentary is to question and supervise, to guide public opinion, to question the truth that has been covered, to appeal to rationality and objectivity, to provide readers with a new angle to look at problems, and to let readers see an unknown aspect of the incident. In this era, the core competitiveness of journalists is no longer the first time to rush to the scene, because the speed of uploading pictures and videos is always one step faster. Publishing unique opinions, providing a new perspective, replacing sensibility with reason, stopping the polarization of group opinions, breaking the cocoon of information algorithms, reconciling the contradictions of all parties, and promoting mutual understanding are the proper effects of a good news commentary, and it will also be the goal of my unremitting pursuit.
Looking back on my submission experience, in just four months, it can really be described as a mixture of ups and downs, and the scenes are like yesterday. Sweet, is the news that a manuscript has been accepted, which can make me immediately lift the corners of my lips and feel wind under my feet when I am overwhelmed by the coursework; sour, it is to see other authors' comments on the same news event, and I feel why their perspectives are so novel and unique, but I can't be so penetrating; bitter is to repeatedly revise my manuscript, and I still feel stumbling when I read it, and finally decide not to submit it to the embarrassment; spicy, it is because I saw that my article was criticized by netizens, and I suddenly realized why I didn't think about my views when writing.
Finally, I would like to give me a special thanks to the Red Hot Chili Peppers Review platform for giving me valuable opportunities to exercise and grow. The platform has developed a submission platform and feedback mechanism for college students, which has given me the courage to submit my manuscript without the usual anxiety of waiting for the results when submitting to the media. I benefited a lot from the encouragement of the editors and teachers of the platform, as well as the revision of my immature text again and again.
I hope that every new biography student can try to participate in the writing and submission of current reviews, feel the joy when their voices are heard, and experience the heavy sense of responsibility as an opinion leader. Only in this way can we better improve our disciplinary literacy, exercise our thinking ability, cultivate professional ethics, and rehearse our careers. I hope that you and I can work the road of exploring the truth of the world, recording the situation of the times, writing stories of the world, and conveying the voice of reason.
