It is understood that before the incident, the Chinese tourist came to Thailand with a tour group of 27 people and stayed at a hotel in Phuket. Afterwards, the tourist went to the famous "diving mecca" Similan Island.
At around 10:40 AM that day, the tourist jumped from the bow of the boat wearing a life jacket and snorkeling mask before snorkeling. The visitor then took off the mask because he felt like he was drowning, uncontrollable, and gradually losing consciousness. Seeing this, the crew immediately brought him onto the ship for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and then transferred him to the Similan Islands National Park for first aid.
The Similan Islands National Park, in coordination with the Koala Medical Center, made a preliminary diagnosis that the Chinese tourist had inhaled a large amount of seawater in his lungs, causing him to suffocate and gradually lose consciousness, after which the tourist unfortunately passed away. At present, the body of the tourist is being stored at Vakira Hospital in Phuket for further investigation.
On January 7, the staff of the Consular Office of the Chinese Consulate General in Songkhla in Phuket replied to a reporter from Nandu on this matter, saying that in order to protect the personal privacy of the person concerned, no more information could be disclosed to the media. The staff of the Consular Protection Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the reporter that in the case of the death of a Chinese citizen abroad, the local police will issue a death certificate to the Chinese embassy or consulate in Thailand, and the Chinese embassy in Thailand will contact his relatives and go to Thailand to deal with the funeral.
