The opening ceremony of the second phase of Sha Tau Kok was held today (6th), and the Secretary for Security, Tang Ping-keung, said on social media that there is a Sha Tau Kok market at the same venue, with markets, games and gift stalls.
Mr Tang said that he felt comforted by the success of the opening-up plan, and hoped that the public and tourists would explore this place with all the beautiful scenery and delicious food.
Since the opening of the Sha Tau Kok Pier Exclusion Area in June 2022, more than 860 tour groups and nearly 34,000 passengers have entered Sha Tau Kok through the scheme. The Sha Tau Kok Opening Plan introduces a new circular route of "Outer Island Tours" to make use of the advantages of Sha Tau Kok's proximity to the Geopark, so as to facilitate tourists to visit the outer islands near Sha Tau Kok and promote natural, cultural and ecological tourism. In addition, the Government, together with the Sha Tau Kok District Rural Committee, has specially collected the best features of Sha Tau Kok to create the "Top 10 Scenic Spots", "Top 10 Delicacies" and "Top 10 Cultural Experiences" in Sha Tau Kok.
How to get to Sha Tau Kok?
After applying for the Restricted Area Permit, individual travelers must take public transportation to enter Sha Tau Kok and are not allowed to enter by car.
The following means of transport are available:
1. Take bus 78S (express service) or bus 78K at MTR Sheung Shui Station or Fanling Station;
2. Take GMB 55K at Sheung Shui MTR Station and get off at the main station;
3. Take bus 277A at MTR Lam Tin Station.
