He was stunned, looked around, and saw artillery fire in the distance, and gunpowder smoke filled the sky. "Are your comrades withdrawing?" he muttered.
Just as he was about to turn around and leave, out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly caught a glimpse of a black figure at the foot of the mountain, which was quietly touching. "No! it's the enemy!" he reacted instantly, his heart beating faster and his palms sweating.
It's too late to withdraw. He took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down. Looking around, scattered guns and ammunition came into view. "Fight!" he gritted his teeth, bent down and began to quickly gather weapons. Grenades, rifles, bullets...... Every time he picked it up, it was like picking up a piece of hope.
He silently said in his heart: "Comrades-in-arms, you go first, and I will arrive later." I'll deal with these enemies!" he crouched in the trench, his eyes fixed on the approaching enemy, and the gun in his hand tightened.
Pan Tianyan has a quick body and quick movements. He quickly picked up the scattered weapons and ammunition, put everything in order, and muttered at the same time: "This battle is so good that even weapons are flying all over the sky." ”
He found a mound of dirt for cover, and hid behind it, clutching a grenade tightly in his hand. Seeing the enemy getting closer and closer, he shouted, "Good come!"
Then, seeing the right moment, he threw the grenade into the enemy pile. The grenade seemed to have eyes, and it blew up the enemy crying for his father. The enemy couldn't figure out the situation for a while, thinking that there were still many volunteers on the position, so he was so frightened that he hurriedly retreated.
Pan Tianyan was not idle, he tied a few grenades together and placed them in front of the position like a stall, and at the same time muttered in his mouth: "Let you taste the taste of this 'gift package'!"
Then, he picked up the guns he had picked up and examined them one by one. If you have bullets, keep them in reserve, and if you don't have them, you can find them and fill them up. In this process, he didn't forget to cheer himself up: "Don't be afraid of trouble, these guys can save lives at critical moments!"

When the enemy heard this shout, he was so frightened that he lay on the ground and fired indiscriminately. Pan Tianyan took the opportunity to throw out two more grenades, and at the same time shouted in his mouth: "Let you taste the power of the Chinese!" The explosion made the enemy cry wolf. In this way, Pan Tianyan alone repelled several enemy attacks.
But the enemy was not stupid, and when he finally found that he was alone on the position, he began to slowly surround him with the intention of capturing him alive.
The enemy came again like a tide, and the black pressure was overwhelming, and the people were terrified to see it.
Pan Tianyan was exhausted, and the clothes on his body were soaked with sweat, as if he could wring out water. He watched the enemy get closer and closer, and an indescribable sadness welled up in his heart. He thought of his distant hometown, remembered the warm smiles of his relatives, did he really want to say goodbye to this world like this?
Just as he was feeling desperate, suddenly, a grenade explosion sounded in the crowd of enemies, followed by a dense burst of gunfire and screams.
Pan Tianyan was stunned, what's going on?
He looked up and saw that on the side of our army's position, grenades fell accurately into the enemy's pile as if they had eyes, and the enemy cried wolf.
Pan Tianyan suddenly understood, it turned out that the company had launched a counterattack! A wave of ecstasy surged in his heart, and the position he had held had turned out to be a favorable condition for the counterattack! He felt as if he was full of strength again, picked up his gun, and fired fiercely at the enemy.
The enemy's offensive was completely disrupted, they began to rout and fled in all directions. Pan Tianyan looked at the defeated enemy and felt extremely happy in his heart. He knew that his perseverance was not in vain, he created an opportunity for the company's counteroffensive and contributed his own strength to the victory.
Pan Tianyan, in that fierce battle, alone, faced the enemy's repeated charges, did not flinch, and successfully bought precious time for the counterattack of the whole company. His performance made his comrades-in-arms sincerely admire, and they called him the "Huo Quai" of the Volunteer Army, and he became a "lonely hero" in the eyes of everyone.
Pan Tianyan's outstanding performance was recognized by the headquarters of the Chinese People's Volunteers, and he was awarded the honorary title of "Young Hero". At the same time, he was also awarded the Military Meritorious Service Medal and Certificate of Merit of the People's Republic of Korea, which is an affirmation of his heroic deeds.

Subsequently, the People's Publishing House also published the comic book "Young Hero Pan Tianyan", which showed the image of this hero with vivid pictures. In 1953, Chairman Mao cordially received Pan Tianyan and expressed his high respect and praise, which was the highest honor for him.
However, Pan Tianyan was not complacent because of his glorious past. After being discharged from the army, he chose to return to an ordinary life and returned to his hometown to become an ordinary grain bureau cadre. He never mentions his past, but silently contributes to the construction of his hometown. It wasn't until his death that many people learned of his glorious past.
In fact, Pan Tianyan's life experience is very miserable. He lost his parents at an early age and lived on the streets, living by begging and doing odd jobs. However, fate gave him a turn of events when he was at his most desperate.
One day, the soldiers of the 38th Army, passing through the town, found the poor child and brought him into the army. Since then, Pan Tianyan's fate has undergone earth-shaking changes.
From a poor orphan to a hero who stands up to the sky, Pan Tianyan's legendary experience is deeply admired. He used his bravery and wisdom to earn honor and respect, and also set an example for us. He is the pride of all Chinese, and his spirit will always inspire us to move forward.
