The world record 8 years ago was the world peanut yield record of 782.6 kilograms per mu created by the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Pingdu City, Shandong Province in 2015, and the yield per mu in Junan County, Shandong Province this year was 82.87 kilograms higher than that time, or more than 165 kilograms, which is a relatively large surpass.
This year's peanut yield world record in Junan County, Shandong Province was also created by the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, which selected an area of 10 acres of fertile land in West Yujiahu Village, Banquan Town, Junan County, as a high-yield field, and its soil type was loam, on which the new peanut variety "Huayu 9511" was sown, and the single-grain precision sowing technology developed by the team of Wan Shubo, a researcher of the Institute, was used when sowing.
This technology has changed the tradition of sowing two or more seeds in one hole of peanuts, and alleviated the competition between adjacent plants in terms of land use rate and sunlight illumination, so that the peanut individual growth is uniform and robust, usually does not appear the phenomenon of large and small seedlings, and the absorption of sunlight and water is relatively uniform, so the growth is better.
When the harvest time came, the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center organized experts from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Henan, Hunan, Jilin, Guangxi and other provinces, as well as Hunan Agricultural University, Shandong Agricultural University, Shandong Agricultural Technology Extension Center and other units to come to the acceptance. The peanuts harvested on one mu of land weighed 1437.66 kg of fresh fruit after removing impurities and weighing, and the estimated drying rate was 60.2%, so the equivalent of 865.47 kg of pods per mu.
The mainland is the world's major country in peanut planting and production, with an annual peanut planting area of about 4.5 million hectares, and the annual peanut output since 2010 has been more than 15 million tons, and the peanut output in 2022 will reach 18.3295 million tons, which is much ahead of other countries.
However, the mainland is also the world's largest consumer of peanuts, and the consumption is greater than the production, so the mainland still needs to import a large number of peanuts from abroad every year. In 2019, 2020 and 2021, the mainland imported 456,600 tons, 989,200 tons and 947,800 tons of peanuts from abroad, respectively.
