It was once the hub of Caoyun and the key point of salt transportation, and there were Caoyun Governor's Palace and Jiangnan River Governor's Palace. Historically, together with Suzhou, Hangzhou and Yangzhou, it is known as the "four major cities" along the canal, and Once Huai'an was "prosperous because of luck and prosperity because of luck", and had the reputation of "China's Canal Capital". The Huai'an section of the Grand Canal of China was inscribed on the World Heritage List. Huai'an is located in the core area north of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province, adjacent to the river and offshore, and is a traffic artery for going south and north, with unique location advantages. It is an important transportation hub in Jiangsu Province and a regional transportation hub in the northern part of the Yangtze River Delta. --During the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, in 486 BC, Wu Wang Fucha excavated the earliest section of the Grand Canal in China, Hangou (that is, the Yangzhou to Chuzhou section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal), to communicate with the Yangtze River and the Huai River, thus accompanying the canal. Therefore, it became an important region contested by the Warring States powers in the Spring and Autumn Period, and was successively owned by Wu, Yue, and Chu. After the Unification of the Six Kingdoms by the Qin, the county system was implemented. The city is divided into Surabaya County and Donghae County, and the Eastern Han Dynasty is divided into Xia Pi Guo and Guangling County. In the seventh year of Southern Qi Yongming (489), east of the broken kettle, 100 households in Huaiyin Town were placed in Huai'an County, and the name "Huai'an" was first seen. During the Five Dynasties of the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the territory was in a stable environment for a long time, and the construction was relatively stable, and it was mostly huaibei that belonged to Sizhou (ruling the north of The Huai River in present-day Xuyi County), and Huainan belonged to Chuzhou (huaicheng in present-day Huai'an District), and the economy was able to continue to develop and prosper again. Chuzhou and Sizhou have become two national cities along the canal, and Chuzhou has been praised by Bai Juyi as "the first state in the southeast of Huaishui". In the Northern Song Dynasty, the territory was relatively peaceful, and the city border first belonged to Huainan Road, which belonged to Chuzhou and Sizhou; later, Huainan South Road was Huainan East and West Road, and the city border belonged to Huainan East Road. During the confrontation between the Southern Song Dynasty and the Jin and Yuan Dynasties in Shuidukou Square, Huai'an City, the city once again became the front line, and the construction was also chaotic and changeable for the two sides. In the Yuan Dynasty, the Territory successively set up the Huaidong Pacification Division, the Huaidong Governor's Office, and the Huai'an Road (in present-day Huai'an District). The jurisdiction of Huai'an Road included most of the present-day northern Jiangsu region and the northern Anhui province. The Ming Dynasty, the establishment of Huai'an Province, belonged to Nanjing (South Zhili), the Qing Dynasty, undertook the Ming system to set up Huai'an Province, belonged to Jiangnan Province, during the Kangxi period, changed to Jiangsu Province; Guangxu Thirty-first Year (1905), once established Jianghuai Province, Huai'an is the place where Jianghuai Inspectors are stationed, that is, the seat of the provincial capital, and then immediately abolished. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), the abolition of Fucun County, Huai'an Province was abolished, and the counties were directly under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province; in 1949, Huaiyin Special District was established, in 1950, Liandong County of Yancheng Special District was merged into Lianshui County of Huaiyin Special District, and in January 1953, southern Jiangsu and Northern Jiangsu Bureaus merged with Nanjing City to restore Jiangsu Province, Huaiyin Special District belonged to Jiangsu Province, and the special office was located in Qingjiang City. In the same year, suining, pi sui and xinyi counties were assigned to Xuzhou Special District; in 2012, Chuzhou District of Huai'an City was renamed Huai'an District. In 2016, Qinghe District and Qingpu District of Huai'an City were merged and renamed Qingjiangpu District, and Hongze County was renamed Hongze District of Huai'an City.

--Huai'an City is located in the Huang-Huai Plain and the Jianghuai Plain, with no lofty mountains, flat terrain, and the topography is dominated by plains, only Xuyi County in the southwest of the city has hilly hills and hills, and the terrain is higher. The highest point of the unnamed mountain in Qiuji Town, Xuyi County is 231 meters, which is the highest point in the city, and the highest ground in Boli in Huai'an District is only 2.3 meters to 3.3 meters, which is the lowest point in the city. The huaihe northern jiangsu irrigation canal line that runs through Huai'an City is the dividing line between China's warm temperate zone and subtropical zone, so Huai'an City has both north-south climate characteristics, generally speaking, the area south of the northern Jiangsu irrigation canal belongs to the northern subtropical humid monsoon climate, and the northern region is the northern temperate semi-humid monsoon climate. Affected by the monsoon climate, the four seasons are distinct, the rainfall is concentrated, the rain and heat are in the same season, the winter is cold and the summer is hot, the spring temperature is changeable, the autumn is high and refreshing, the light energy is sufficient, and the heat is rich.

Ming Ancestral Mausoleum

--The first mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty, the Ming Zu Mausoleum, is the crown tomb of the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, the great-grandfather and grandfather, located in Guanzhen Township, Xuyi County, about 20 kilometers away from Xuyi County. According to the "Annual Outline of Zhu Zuzhang's Lineage", Zhu Yuanzhang's ancestral home was Zhujia Lane, Tongde Township, Jurong County, Jiangsu Province. In the first year of Hongwu, after Zhu Yuanzhang ascended the throne, he posthumously honored his high ancestor as Emperor Xuan, his great-grandfather as Emperor Heng, his grandfather as Emperor Yu, and his father as Emperor Chun. Zhu Yuanzhang's strong guangzong yaozu ideology prompted him to build ancestral tombs at any cost, which seemed to be unable to achieve the purpose of consolidating the Ming Dynasty. In 1963, the water level of Hongze Lake dropped, and the ruins of the Ming Ancestral Tombs gradually emerged from the water, and the relics were scattered on the central axis with a total length of 250 meters, including 20 pairs of stone elephants that fell into the muddy water. A few arched doors loomed under the large pond, which were tombs, with six coffins side by side below. Among them are Zhu Yuanzhang's grandparents, flanked by great-grandfathers and high ancestors. The six coffins are filled with python robes, jade belts, and phoenix crowns, which are crown tombs. The body of Zhu Yuanzhang's grandparents was buried on a high mound not far from here, when the mausoleum was built, Zhu Yuanzhang did not dare to move his ancestral bones, for fear of breaking the dragon vein and breaking the feng shui, so he built a crown tomb next to it. Since 1997, the Ming Ancestral Tombs have been restored several times, and now 2706 meters of flood control levees have been built around, of which 600 meters of dangerous sections are all protected by stones, and more than 60,000 trees such as pine cypress, Metasequoia and sycamore are planted around it. It has also built a new cultural relics exhibition room and a pumping machine station.

Zhenhuai Building

--ZhenhuaiLou, located in the ancient city center of Huai'an County, Jiangsu Province, was founded in the Southern Song Dynasty. When the Ming Dynasty built Huai'an City, it was rebuilt into a tower, that is, a bell and drum tower used to make changes, call the hour, and call the police. During the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed "Zhenhuai Lou", because the Huai Water often flooded, and the name "Zhenhuai" was taken to suppress the flood. The existing wooden building was rebuilt in the seventh year of the Qing Dynasty (1881). The lower part of the Zhenhuai Building is a masonry high platform, with an arched door opening in the middle, the platform is gradually smaller from the bottom to the top, slightly trapezoidal, and there are brick stairways next to the platform for walking up and down, and the top of the platform is equipped with railings on all four sides. The upper part of the platform is a two-story pavilion with a wooden structure, with three wide rooms, and a heavy eaves on the top of the qingwa xie mountain, which is very quaint. Today, under the decoration of the industrious and intelligent huai'an people, the town Huailou looks more magnificent and colorful.
