North Korea is a sovereign and independent country, while South Korea is not. The US news media's claim that "the DPRK has abandoned its reunification policy" is obviously incorrect, and it is not so much that the DPRK has given up reunification, but rather that the DPRK has clearly recognized the reality and knows that as long as the United States is still around, the ROK will never be able to become independent and finally achieve reunification.

On December 31, the North Korean leader said in a meeting with the top level of the North Korean military: "At present, the DPRK's extremely unstable security environment, the United States and other hostile forces continue to take military provocations, and the risk of armed conflict is intensifying." Military commanders at all levels need to be prepared to respond to the possibility of armed conflict. ”
