The martyr couple left behind four orphans, and he risked his life to rescue them, and finally protected the four children to become adults

In July of the lunar calendar in 1941, a tragedy occurred in the "Taidong Hospital" in Pinglidian Town, Ye County, Shandong. Dr. Wang Shuxian, the director of the hospital, his wife Cheng Guizhi, his eldest son Wang Wenxu, and Xu Yulan, a staff member of the hospital, were arrested at the same time and brutally killed by the Japanese invaders.

Wang Shuxian, born in 1896, was born in a scholarly family, ranking third. His father, Wang Zhenxing, was a rural private school teacher. Wang Shu first studied at Ye County and Jining Church School, then went to Jinan Medical College to Xi, and after graduation, he returned to Pinglidian Town to open a private clinic. He studied Western medicine and specializes in surgery.

Most of the local doctors are traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, and there are many acute and stubborn diseases that need to be treated with Western medicine methods, such as surgery, injections, and resuscitation. Western medicine has a fast effect and is very trusted by people. Wang Shuxian was a doctor with good medical ethics and skills, conscientious and responsible for patients, and often charged less or no fees for the poor to see a doctor. Some patients were unable to go to the clinic, so he rode a motorcycle to see a doctor. For this reason, Wang Shuxian is very famous in the area of Pingli Town, and many plaques praising his medical ethics and medical skills are hung in the clinic.

His wife, Cheng Guizhi, was born in 1905. Cheng's father is a senior chef who has worked in Vladivostok, Russia for a long time, and is influenced by Russian social Xi, resolutely refusing to let his two daughters bind their feet, insisting on cultivating his daughters, and must provide them with literacy. As a result, Cheng Guizhi was able to go to school in Ye County and Wei County, received a better education, was familiar with English, and also studied the nursing profession. Cheng Guizhi was hired to work in Wang Shuxian's clinic, and the two got married and had five sons.

In 1934, a major event happened to Wang Shuxian. He was kidnapped by bandits, and the bandits demanded a thousand oceans before they could be released. The Wang family's life is only well-off at best, how can there be so much money, begging the middleman to make peace. In the end, the kidnappers let go, and they would release the person immediately after paying 500 yuan, otherwise they would tear up the ticket. Family, relatives and friends were very anxious, and tried every means to borrow money from east and west, raised 500 oceans, and ransomed people.

As a result of this blow, Wang Shuxian underwent a tremendous change in his thinking, and he realized that there was no justice in society, that the masses were living in dire straits, that the country had no hope, that individuals had no future, and that it was absolutely impossible to expect the Kuomintang and the warlords to establish a fair society.

Among Wang Shuxian's friends were many progressives, and Suo Shaoquan was one of them. He is open-minded, loyal, courteous, and helpful, and has a good reputation in the local area. From 1932 onwards, Soo Shaoquan was elected as the head of the "Peasant Representative Association" in Yongwang Township. Although the "peasant cooperatives" are officially recognized mass organizations, the main responsible persons of the leading bodies are all communists. Soshaoquan took advantage of his legal position to propagate our party's policies, organize and lead the masses to carry out a struggle with the local government, and safeguard the interests of the peasants. During the reign of the Japanese invaders, Suo Shaoquan was the head of the fourth district of our anti-Japanese government.

Due to the influence of the ideological and progressive people around him, Wang Shuxian's desire for revolution became stronger and stronger. In 1936, Wang Shuxian resolutely joined the Communist Party of China, and in 1938, Cheng Guizhi and Xu Yulan also joined the Communist Party.

In the spring of 1938, Yexian County fell, and the situation took a sharp turn for the worse. Devils and traitors are rampant and domineering, killing people everywhere and setting fires, committing adultery and plundering, and the people are not living well. The anti-Japanese beacon fire also burned everywhere. However, there was a huge disparity between the strength of the enemy and us, and our anti-Japanese forces were extremely short of medical personnel, especially surgeons who were highly skilled and skilled in surgery. The party organization decided to send Wang Shu to the Eighth Route Army's anti-Japanese three armies (three detachments) to participate in medical rescue work. Wang Shuxian did not hesitate to close the clinic that made ends meet, and then left his family and business and ran to the battlefield without hesitation.

However, the medical conditions of our army are extremely rudimentary, and many wounded people cannot be treated, so it is urgent to establish an "underground" hospital that has no political overtones on the surface, but is actually to rescue our wounded. In the autumn of 1939, according to the requirements of the organization, Wang Shuxian returned to Pinglidian and opened the "Taidong Hospital".

After the establishment of the hospital, surgical equipment and medicines were scarce, so Wang Shuxian looked for businessmen who could get medicines through reliable classmates, and did everything possible to buy medicines and surgical instruments. Sometimes even the enemy has to take advantage of it.

Wang Shuxian said that to cure this disease, he needed the German "914", but the Japanese were in charge of it, and it was difficult to buy any medicine, so he could see if he could find a way to buy some medicine. This guy was in a hurry to treat the disease, so he readily agreed, and really secretly bought some medicines and equipment according to the list that Wang Shu opened first.

Hospitals are often treated by "patients" disguised as ordinary people. Most of the patients were treated and left with some medicine, while the few who had to be hospitalized were mostly seriously ill with gunshot wounds that required surgery. When hospitalized, doctors and nurses must agree with the patient number in advance, such as name, age, and what kind of disease, etc., and must not expose the condition of the gunshot wound to prevent the enemy from interrogating and questioning them. This "Taidong Hospital", which is calm on the surface, is operating tensely and efficiently, rescuing many wounded.

The staff in the hospital are reliable, and the security and confidentiality measures are meticulous and thorough. Pinglidian is a large town with a more developed commerce and handicraft industry than other towns, and there is a telegraph office and a post office. There are two main streets in the town, there are many merchants in the front and back streets, and there are often markets, and there are frequent people in and out in the past, which is very conducive to the entry and exit of the wounded and sick, and the safety situation of the hospital has always been in a good state. Most of the injured who were admitted to the hospital were quickly treated and moved to a safer place.

Wang Shuxian and his wife were selfless and fearless for the revolution and were willing to be unsung heroes. In particular, his wife, Cheng Guizhi, in addition to working hard, also has to take care of nursing babies and four-year-old children, no matter how difficult the family, how hard the work, and how dangerous the environment, she silently supports her husband's work.

Of course, Wang Shuxian knew how dangerous what he was doing, and all he could do was to protect his family as much as possible. The eldest son, Wang Wenxu, left home to participate in the revolution and joined the party, and is the party's underground communicator, so he can worry less about this child. The 12-year-old second child and the 7-year-old third child were both placed at his mother-in-law's house. The 4-year-old fourth and the fifth infant can't do without their mother, so they can only take it with them.

He was justified in his fears. No matter how well the clinic is guarded, it can't withstand the betrayal of traitors. The traitor Hou Ximing reported the secrets of the Taidong Hospital to the Japanese troops in the Pinglidian stronghold.

On September 6, 1941, the devils secretly set up an ambush. This day is the "River Lantern" festival on July 15 of the lunar calendar, and there is a local Xi of family reunion. But the devil waited for a long time, and did not wait for others, so at about 11 o'clock in the evening, Wang Shuxian, Cheng Guizhi and hospital staff Xu Yulan were arrested, as well as Wang Shuxian's three children, the eldest son Wang Wenxu and the fourth and fifth children. Wang Wenxu was not in the hospital, but he happened to come to the clinic to exchange information that day, and he couldn't fall into the clutches of the devil.

In the middle of the night, a dozen devils and a translator kidnapped them to the stronghold. On the way, I met a watchman, and the devil thought that the children were crying and walking too slowly, so he asked the interpreter to say to the watchman: "You sent these two children to the Xinmin Association, do you understand?"

The watchman recognized that the arrested were Dr. Wang Shuxian and his wife. He did not send the two children to the Xinmin Society, but took the children to the children's grandmother's house eight miles away. He did a great deed. The Xinmin Society is a traitor's nest, and the two children went there, and their fate was unpredictable. The watchman is called Xu Song, and Wang Shuxian's surviving children miss him.

But it's not that simple. In order to eradicate the roots, the enemy continued to track down the whereabouts of the two children, and many well-wishers helped to prevent the enemy's plot from succeeding. Wang Shuxian's children were able to survive, and many people contributed.

Wang Shuxian, who was arrested, and four others were soon killed.

The "Taidong Hospital" was destroyed by the enemy, and Wang Shuxian and his wife died, which aroused great anger among the anti-Japanese soldiers and civilians. Wang Lei, secretary of the Renye County Party Committee, immediately ordered the Sixth District Party Committee to immediately take all measures to get rid of the traitors. Hou Ximing and his wife live in a heavily guarded devil's stronghold, thinking they have peace of mind. In just seven days, this wolf couple was executed by our Eighth Route Army!

After the death of Wang Shuxian and his wife, his mother-in-law was extremely stimulated and mentally disturbed, and the four children were in a worrying situation, and they all relied on neighbors to take care of them.

It was Suo Shaoquan who stood up and provoked righteousness. When he learned of the bad news of Wang Shuxian and his wife, he immediately rushed to his mother-in-law's house to settle the orphans of the martyrs. Wang Shuxian's second brother also arrived in time when he heard the news. After discussion, Suo Shaoquan took away the fifth and third children in the swaddling clothes, and the second brother took the second and fourth children away. With the care of his mother-in-law and the willingness of the kind-hearted villagers to help, the urgent need was finally solved. Fortunately, it didn't take long for his mother-in-law's condition to improve, and she was able to take care of herself after more than half a month.

For the safety of the orphans of the martyrs, Suo Shaoquan asked the reliable young man in the village to help Lin Guang (party member), as long as he learned that the devil was going to "sweep", Suo Lin Guang was responsible for leading the third child to escape, although the child was still not free from fear, but the safety was basically guaranteed. In order to let the fifth child eat milk, Suo Shaoquan's wife asked for milk from lactating women in the village, as long as she can think of ways not to let the child go hungry, it is the greatest comfort of the family.

Soon, Wang Shuxian's second brother asked for help and arranged the second brother to be an apprentice in Ye County. After learning about it, Suo Shaoquan was very uneasy, feeling that it was too dangerous to apprentice in the county, and once his identity was exposed, the consequences would be unimaginable, so he decided to take the second child to his house and continue to go to school until the autumn of 1944, when the second child joined the Eighth Route Army.

The selfless and fearless spirit of Suo Shaoquan in helping the orphans of the martyrs is very touching, not to mention the financial burden brought about by it, how heavy the mental pressure alone must be. Once this matter is known by the devil and traitor, the result will be a ruined family. With his actions, Suo Shaoquan highlighted the demeanor of a communist.

Wang Shuxian's children grew up very well.

After studying at the Shaoquan family for more than a year, the third Wang Wenshao returned to his grandmother's house. Seeing that Wang Shuxian's mother-in-law's family was living in extreme difficulty, Suo Shaoquan immediately found the people's government of the three districts of Ye County and asked the district government to find help. The district government readily agreed to give a monthly subsidy of two liters (30 catties) of grain, so that the family could barely tide over the difficulties.

After the second Wang Haobin joined the Eighth Route Army, although he was very young, his belief in avenging his parents was always unswerving. After Japan's surrender, Wang Haobin moved to the Northeast, served as the leader of the radio station at a very young age, and fought with the Northeast Field Army to Hengyang, Hunan Province in the War of Liberation. Because of his political reliability and good ideology and technology, he was selected and transferred to Beijing to work in the Third Department of the General Staff.

The third brother, Wang Wenshao, joined the People's Liberation Army in the spring of 1947, and the fourth brother, Wang Wensui, joined the work in the spring of 1953. The fifth Wang Wenle lived in the Shaoquan family until the victory of the Anti-Japanese War before returning to his grandmother's house, and was admitted to the People's Liberation Army Air Force Aviation School in the summer of 1960. All four brothers joined the Chinese Communist Party.
