Recently, the police arrested the principals of two private schools in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on suspicion of molesting 17 underage female students. The girls were reportedly asked to stay overnight at a school while preparing for exams.
However, after the exams, they were given food containing sedatives and molested. The next morning, they were told not to tell their families about it, or their lives would be threatened and their studies would be ruined.
Shockingly, the incident took place on November 18, but it was not until December 5 that parents reported the incident to the police due to the intervention of a local state legislature (MLA). At present, the principals of the two schools have been investigated, and the police officers at the place of the incident have also been charged with negligence. It is deeply distressing that these girls are from poor families.
