  Chinese Autumn Sand Duck is a species that remains after the Tertiary Ice Age, more than 10 million years ago, is a rare bird of Chinese specialty, belongs to the national level key protected animals, is included in the International Alliance for the Conservation of Natural Resources Endangered Birds Red Book and the International Bird Protection Committee Endangered Birds List, is a national treasure with the giant panda, South China tiger, Yunnan golden snub-nosed monkey, the world only less than 1,000, so has the title of "bird giant panda".

  According to records, in the same area, on January 2, 2014, two winter migratory birds under national first-class protection were found, the Eastern White Stork.

  Guo Liliang, engineer of the Mingxi National Wildlife Epidemic Source Disease Monitoring Station, introduced: "The important reason why the national treasure-level migratory birds in Mingxi County appear in the Mingxi Wetland Park is that the rivers here are clear, the beach is long and shallow, the river surface is wide, and the fish and shrimp are abundant. Along the upper reaches of the river on both sides of the inaccessible, Junzifeng National Nature Reserve bred the original ecological broad-leaved forest lush, fresh air, every winter attracted the northeast region of China's long-distance migration of Mandarin ducks and other geese and ducks winter migratory birds camped here, inhabiting the winter, the largest number of Mandarin ducks is more than 1,000. ”

  The superior hydrothermal conditions in Mingxi County provide a suitable habitat for wild birds. Due to its high diversity of birds, Mingxi County has become an important ecological bird watching tourism area and bird science education base in Fujian Province. In 2012, Mingxi County was awarded the "Hometown of China's Yellow-bellied Horned Pheasant" by the China Wildlife Conservation Association for having a national first-class protected wild bird, which accounts for 10% of the country's total.
