Xia Zhendong is a "post-90s" junior high school physics teacher from Jingdezhen No. 13 Middle School in Jiangxi Province. This summer, Xia Zhendong became popular on the Internet through a series of short videos of classroom experiments such as "summoning thunder" in the classroom and popping balloons with lasers, where students fall in love with physics in his creative experiment "magic lessons" and learn something beyond knowledge itself. "It's not just about 'educating' points, it's about educating people," says Xia Zhendong, describing his career goals.

Moderator: The "stop" period of your short video has not ended, do you have any plans to update the video recently?
Xia Zhendong: Probably in the next few days or at the beginning of the year. If the school work is busy, it will stop for a longer time, so some netizens found the pattern: at the beginning of the school year, Teacher Xia basically doesn't update much, and there will be some videos at the end of the semester, because the teaching content is completed, I have time and leisure to do this.
Moderator: What do you hope to achieve with such a variety of teaching formats?
Xia Zhendong: My ideal is that they can learn Xi subject happily and at the same time improve their scores relatively easily. It is the ideal state to be able to learn and be useful.

Moderator: You and the teaching and research team also have a good atmosphere during the preparation process, how do you think this relaxed atmosphere came about?
Xia Zhendong: My understanding is that physics is a very attractive subject, it will allow people to understand the world in many ways, and it is not easy to understand something unilaterally. So I am more open-minded and see more pleasant things. We found that most of the things in this world are not decided by us, so it's good to experience it, not to be too entangled in certain things, and everyone has a good mentality.

Moderator: What do you think about some teachers avoiding teaching "out-of-the-box" knowledge?
Xia Zhendong: Many teachers don't talk about it because they don't take the exam, and I think this is contrary to the original intention of education. It's true that going to school is based on scores, which leads to many teachers having to pay attention to efficiency, and the efficiency in their eyes may only be scores, which is a bit short-sighted, and it will make children more utilitarian, thinking about what I can get by doing these things all day long. But the law of many things in the future is not quite like this, but most of the time it is a boring accumulation that I don't know how much, but at a certain moment, it can bloom a particularly brilliant flower.
Moderator: Do you compromise in order to achieve results that can be seen in the short term, such as grades and higher education?
Xia Zhendong: The ideal must first make some compromises with reality. Usually I tell my students that we must be working hard for the exams, but we can't just see the exams. Therefore, I must first complete the teaching task in class, and then broaden the content a little, in short, while looking up at the starry sky, I must also be down-to-earth, and I must have both.
I was afraid that talking about these contents would encroach on the knowledge required in the class, but after trying it for a year, it worked very well, and they learned easily and did well in the exam, and I have continued to use the expanded content until now.

Moderator: Are there two identities that you need to choose between being an internet celebrity or a teacher?
Xia Zhendong: My main job is to be a teacher, and I am willing to devote all my energy to this profession, as an Internet celebrity, I only shoot some videos when I have spare time. Actually, I am still a teacher on the Internet, but I have changed from a classroom with shapes to a classroom without shapes and walls. In the future, I will continue to be a teacher happily, and I will update the more than 2 million students on the Internet when I have time, so that they can also see it.
Moderator: Do you have any plans for the new year?
Xia Zhendong: I am a native of Jingdezhen, some time ago I learned to make porcelain, and found that there is more physics knowledge than I imagined, and then I had an idea: from the mud to the molded ceramics, the physical knowledge that can be excavated in the whole process of making ceramics is transferred to the classroom, forming a series of courses - physics in ceramics.

Wu Yongjun, the 2023 National Model of Teaching and Educating People, and the principal of Luanchuan County Special Education School in Henan Province, among his more than 100 students, more than 90% have cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, and some students have disabilities such as deafness and muteness. We have been working hard to make every disabled child embark on their own stage of life.
Interviewer: I heard that you have been doing something with your children recently, what is it?
Wu Yongjun: After taking more than 20 children to participate in the 8th Henan Provincial Games for the Disabled (hereinafter referred to as the Paralympic Games) in August this year, he mainly trained the children in line dance, and participated in the 8th National Paralympic Line Dance Competition in November and won the second prize. The children participated in the event and were very happy!
Moderator: What is the situation of students in schools like now?
Wu Yongjun: In accordance with the country's overall policy on special education, it is the overall orientation to let more children in special education schools integrate into the children of ordinary schools and learn Xi with them. However, it is still difficult to achieve, and the need for children in various situations to go to school is increasing, and children who are about to graduate at the age of 15 or 16 are reluctant to go back, and want to spend as much time as possible in school and learn more Xi content.

Interviewer: What do you most want to achieve in the education of these special children?
Wu Yongjun: It is not enough to only focus on the Xi of subject knowledge, children can move to the campus and playground, and then they can have more opportunities to go out of the campus, so that they can understand the society and better integrate into the society. At present, what we are thinking about the most is, how can children have a way out? These children with intellectual disabilities are such a large group, and they will have a better life in society in the future, and we need more help and opportunities for these children in terms of policies, social care and supportive employment. I would also like to explore more such methods and paths with my teachers.
Interviewer: Did you have any things that impressed you when the children participated in the event?
Wu Yongjun: We have organized a total of 23 children to participate in the Luoyang Paralympic Games, but medals have never been important to us. Two children with cerebral palsy heard that they were going to participate in the Paralympic Games, trained hard, and not only stood at the starting point, but also rushed to the finish line, winning the gold and silver medals in the 400 meters. After returning, the child's parents said that when they said that they needed to go out to buy some food, the children said, "I come, I can." Such a small thing is very valuable for the children's motivation and the arousal of life.

Moderator: What kind of talents do you think we need to do a good job in special education?
Wu Yongjun: I hope to increase the training of special education teachers and solve the problem of teacher specialization. During this time, I also learned that from kindergarten to elementary school, middle school, and even university, there are many children with psychological abnormalities or learning Xi disorders in various ordinary schools, but it seems that they will be simply attributed to psychological problems, or a kind of emotional prevarication, which seems to be relatively weak in the entire education system.
Not only special education, but also all kinds of normal colleges and universities should not only learn Xi Xi psychology, so that these normal students can also learn some knowledge about special education, and can also provide scientific and timely help and support for these children in need.

Moderator: Do you have any thoughts or expectations for the new year?
Wu Yongjun: I haven't thought about it yet, the children are facing a lot of things at the end of the term, and they have to participate in the New Year's Day and Spring Festival Gala performances.
