In 1931, Japanese imperialism brazenly launched the September 18 Incident in an attempt to occupy Northeast China. With the escalation of the war, in 1937, the Japanese army invaded China in an all-round way, and the Chinese nation faced an unprecedented crisis. At this critical juncture of national survival, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party shelved their disputes and reached an anti-Japanese national united front to jointly resist foreign enemies.
In the face of the Japanese army, which had received a strict militaristic education, the Chinese army was at a disadvantage in terms of weaponry and training level. With advanced weapons and tactics, the Japanese army was almost uninhabited on the Chinese battlefield in the early days. According to statistics, in the early days of the Anti-Japanese War, the ratio of Chinese troops to Japanese losses was as high as 5:1, which meant that for every enemy killed, our side had to pay the price of five lives.

During the War of Resistance, military resources were extremely scarce. Even the best units have only about 30 rounds per soldier, medium units have only about 10 rounds of ammunition, and the worst units have only 5 rounds per soldier. In such a situation, the soldiers' thirst for bullets is extremely strong. In order to encourage soldiers to kill the enemy bravely, the army instituted a reward policy: for every Japanese soldier killed, they were rewarded with a valuable bullet. This policy undoubtedly greatly stimulated the soldiers' will to fight.
