During the festival from December 30, 2023 to January 1, 2024, Yunnan Nationalities Village launched a series of activities of "Wa Wooden Drum Festival" with the theme of "Happy Wooden Drum Festival and Gathering in Ethnic Village".
The event focused on highlights such as "Wooden Drum Festival, Wooden Drum Pulling, and Wooden Drum Jumping", showcasing the mysterious Awa ethnic culture and lively festival Xi, and welcoming the arrival of the New Year with tourists from all over the world.
Work together to play wooden drums, dance and sing to send blessings. During the festival, people will set off from the east gate of the park under the leadership of the "Moba" (priest), singing the tune of "pulling the wooden drum", inviting tourists to join the parade along the way until the wooden drum is pulled back to the Wa village. Dressed in costumes, the Wa girls beat the wooden drums, shook their long hair, and danced unrestrained and heroic dances, pushing the festive atmosphere of the "Wooden Drum Festival" to a climax.
The bull's head is regarded as a symbol of wealth by the Wa people. During the festival, the largest cow head will be exhibited in Wa Village, visitors can not only feel the fortune of touching the cow's head, but also follow the "Moba" prayer, participate in the "tethering" ceremony, and ask for a good fortune for the coming year, or experience the "combing hair love story" to understand the unique love customs of the Wa people.
On the Dianchi Grand Stage, there is also a stage art masterpiece that includes 15 unique ethnic minority cultural elements and singing and dancing genes in Yunnan every day - "The Call of the Plateau" performance. At the same time, the series of performances of "Colorful Clouds" village series was also staged on time in nine villages, including Achang, Dai, Yi and Bai.
For food lovers, the ethnic food street brings together delicious snacks of different ethnic minorities in Yunnan, such as Wa chicken rotten rice, Bai fried milk fan, Miao Huashan chicken, Lahu Chaotian pepper chicken wings and other delicacies, there is always something that tourists will like.
