IT Home reported on December 27 that Apple pushed the iOS 17.2.1 update (build number: 21C66) to iPhone users on December 20, focusing on fixing the problem of excessive power consumption in some scenarios. So how much of a battery life improvement has this fix brought?YouTube channel iAppleBytes recently released a video that compares through actual measurements.
IT Home attaches the test steps as follows:
Before running the test, all tested iPhones were set to 25% brightness, auto-brightness disabled, the same settings were maintained, and connected to the same access point.
Then with a full charge, run GeekBench 4 to test the time it drops from 100% to 0%.
According to the test results:
- The iPhone SE (2020) has a battery life of 3 hours and 20 minutes
- The iPhone XR has a battery life of 4 hours and 35 minutes
- The iPhone 11 has a battery life of 5 hours and 14 minutes
- The iPhone 12 has a battery life of 5 hours and 44 minutes
- The iPhone 13 has a battery life of 6 hours and 58 minutes
The results of the test are as follows:

In terms of benchmark results, only the iPhone 11 upgraded to iOS 17.2.1, with a score of 4.5% from 2993 (iOS 17.2) to 3129, and the iPhone 11 improved from 3024 to 3226, an improvement of 6.7%.
All other iPhone models have seen a drop in battery life. The iPhone 13 battery life dropped by 6.3% from 4,460 points (iOS 17.2) to 4,180 points, and the iPhone 13 autonomy score dropped by 6.3% from 4,745 points to 4,447 points after battery health adjustments.
