The so-called "highway of death" sounds chilling when it comes to rolling rocks and cramped roads, but there are many places in the world that have such adrenaline-pumping roads, so which ones have been selected as the nine dangerous roads in our country? Have you ever been there?
Sichuan-Tibet Highway
The road conditions and geographical location of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway make it the top nine highways in the risk coefficient without exaggeration, and it is no exaggeration to hear in the news on weekdays that the vehicle has an accident on the Sichuan-Tibet line, which is as small as a slight collision or as large as a direct rollover and rolls off the cliff, which makes people break out in a cold sweat across the screen.
Why is the Sichuan-Tibet Highway so dangerous? First of all, it is located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with an average altitude of more than 4,000 meters, and the altitude of the entire highway gradually climbs from 3,100 meters to the highest of 4,651 meters at the Yela Pass, and then drops to nearly 4,000 meters, and the 318 Sichuan-Tibet Line is 2,142 kilometers long from Chengdu to Lhasa.

The rainy season can be said to be the most dangerous, some sections of the Sichuan-Tibet line will accumulate water as a result, and the car may sink into the mud puddle when driving over, coupled with continuous precipitation, the erosion of the mountains along the way, mudslides and landslides occur from time to time, and it is not uncommon for vehicles to be smashed by the situation, and once an accident occurs, it is difficult for the rescue team to quickly reach the scene, and the rescue work is difficult to carry out.
Despite the dangers, there are still so many road trip enthusiasts who use this as a travel destination every year, because the Sichuan-Tibet line is full of beautiful scenery, including the misty Ranwu Lake, the mighty Nu River, and the endless Bangda grassland.
Guo Liang Tunnel
Located in Guoliang Village, Xinxiang City, Henan Province, the Guoliang Tunnel is a road built along a cliff by local villagers between 1972 and 1977.
In order to get rid of this predicament and to benefit future generations, the villagers spontaneously formed an engineering team and raised money to buy tools to repair roads.
In the extremely cold winter, braving a snowstorm to dig holes in the cliffs, young and strong laborers with hemp ropes tied to their waists, clinging to the almost vertical rock face, using shovels and explosives to cut 30 cannon holes, finally formed this 1.2-kilometer-long tunnel.
When you look out of these hollows, you will only see bottomless cliffs and valleys, which makes people gasp, because of its steep terrain, the Guoliang Tunnel is listed as one of the 15 most dangerous roads in the world, and Japanese film and television companies have also filmed a related documentary about this legendary highway.
320 National Highway Huanghua Bridge Section
National Highway 320 is a highway from Shanghai, extending to Yunnan Ruili Sister Jie Port, and Huanghuaqiao Road is located in Jiangxi Province, although the total length of less than one kilometer of it, compared to the total length of 3695 kilometers is so insignificant, but do not underestimate its danger.
Known as the "Devil's Zone" , mainly because the section of the road is tortuous, and the radius is only 216 meters, the solid line distance is only 84 meters, as the country's secondary highway, its data is far lower than the standard line, so before the transformation in 2003, since the opening in 1992, there have been more than 400 traffic accidents here, according to the national traffic accident survey data, the number of accidents in the Huanghuaqiao section between 2002 and 2003, accounting for one-tenth of the Xiangdong region, and the number of deaths in the accident is as high as three percent.
Yunnan-Burma Highway
Also known as the Qinglong Twelve Turns, it is located in Guizhou Province, from the sky to see this highway, like a flying dragon hovering in the mountains and forests, it is built by the mountain, along the mountain to form twenty-four arc-shaped bends, built in the Anti-Japanese War period, now also retains most of the past form, the road is paved with stones, the vehicle will feel the continuous bumps on it, which adds a touch of horror to the already tense atmosphere.
From the first turn to the last one, the straight-line distance is only 350 meters, the vertical height is 250 meters, and it takes 4 kilometers to go around the bend, and the inclination angle is 60 degrees.
Qinglong 12 turns are now also developed into a tourist attraction, you can take a sightseeing car to experience, according to the tourists who have been there, sitting on the sightseeing car, the atmosphere is not daring to come out, always feel that the next second the body is going to rush to the bottom of the cliff, the whole car people are just holding the handrail, silently thinking about how long it will take to reach the end, obviously only 4 kilometers of the drive but feel that there is 40 kilometers so long.
Tianmen Mountain leads to the sky avenue
Tianmen Mountain is located in Zhangjiajie Scenic Area, is a famous mountain that has long been written into history, there are many poems praising the majesty of Tianmen Mountain in ancient poetry, for example, Li Bai's "Looking at Tianmen Mountain", it is directly written that "Tianmen interrupts the opening of the Chu River", which has now won the name of the national 5A-level scenic spot, and there is an endless stream of tourists.
Tianmen Mountain Winding Road was built in 1998, completed in 2005, with a total length of 10.77 kilometers, driving on this road, you can experience the excitement of the steep increase in altitude from 200 meters to 1300 meters, and because of the construction around the mountain, the mountain road is full of steep cliffs on both sides, and the deep canyon below, as if speeding in the sky, this avenue is like a flying ribbon, leading tourists to the top of the mountain.
If you can overcome the fear of going up the mountain, you will find that there are a total of 99 turns, just in line with the meaning of the Nine Heavens, Tianmen Mountain is a scenic spot protected by the state, so the degree of development is low, basically restore the most primitive forest style, growing many rare vegetation, so it also has the reputation of "hanging garden".
Motuo Highway
Located in Tibet, it is a holy place in Buddhism, and legend has it that it is the key to the "Elysium", so before this century, it was almost isolated from the world, and the roads leading to the outside world were only some small roads with a width of less than two meters.
On October 31, 2013, after decades of planning and preparation, the 268.64-kilometre highway was completed and opened to traffic, and has since been extended to connect the more remote mountainous areas, and has now reached about 579.54 kilometres.
The danger of the Medog Highway is that it is located in the eastern part of the Himalayas, where the altitude can drop sharply from 7,000 meters to 200 meters, and the road is full of rushing rivers and waterfalls.
Duku Highway
This is a section from Dushanzi to Kuqa in Xinjiang, because it crosses the Tianshan Mountains from south to north, so it is also known as the Tianshan Highway, with a total length of 561 kilometers, half of the road section is above 2000 meters above sea level, so it is also a peculiar and magnificent landscape avenue, along the way you can see different landforms such as grasslands and canyons, just driving on the Duku Highway for one day, you can see the changes of Xinjiang throughout the year, so it also attracts many off-road enthusiasts to experience here.
However, this highway is only open to traffic from June to September every year, and it can be opened to traffic in just four months, mainly because after September, the Xinjiang region begins to cool down and snow, and the road surface of the Duku Highway will become unusually slippery due to snow and ice, and it is very dangerous to drive on it.
Kara Highway Kunlun
The Karakoram Highway is a transnational highway that starts from Kashgar, China in the north, crosses the Karakoram Mountains, the Hindu Kush Mountains, the Himalayas and other high mountains in the south, and ends in the north of Pakistan, with a total length of 1,224 kilometers, known as "the most beautiful and highest highway in the world".
However, during the construction of this highway in the sixties of the last century, about 700 people from both countries died as a result, so it can be said that this is an international highway that has been bought with their lives.
The dangerous sections of the highway are mainly located in China, which is also located at high altitudes, and it is very difficult to traverse several giant mountain ranges, with geological disasters such as avalanches and landslides along the way, snow and ice can damage roads and bridge decks, and there have been many tragedies of car crashes and deaths.
Tek Highway
Taike Highway is located in Shanxi Province on the mainland, as a secondary highway, its purpose of construction is mainly to serve the transportation of mineral resources and materials, the highway is 80.3 kilometers long, at 31 kilometers and 700 meters or so, there is a huge "U" shaped bend, so it is called "China's Bermuda Triangle".
The danger of this curve is that it is on a flat road surface, and suddenly there is a steep slope and a sharp bend, usually the curve should be higher outside and lower inside, but here it is the opposite, so that when the vehicle is driving, it is easy to have centrifugal force greater than centripetal force, so if the speed is not controlled, sudden sudden braking and slamming the steering wheel are extremely easy to cause overturning.
