Previously, it was reported by the media that Zhu Ling was diagnosed with a brain tumor in April this year and was sentenced to "probably not live for 10 months", and his family decided not to do harmful treatment. On November 18, Zhu Ling suffered a brain tumor attack, with high cranial pressure, dilated pupils, a high fever of 39 degrees, and fell into a severe coma. The family said they were "ready". On November 24, Zhu Ling survived his 50th birthday.

Review of Zhu Ling's thallium poisoning case

Zhu Ling was born in 1973 and is a 1992 chemistry student at Tsinghua University.

On November 24, 1994, Zhu Ling began to have strange symptoms of poisoning, stomach pain, hair loss, and was admitted to the hospital. On March 26, 1995, Zhu Ling became seriously ill again and was admitted to Union Hospital, where he was in a coma for five months. At that time, the Internet was not yet widespread, and many of Zhu Ling's classmates translated this unknown illness into English and sent a distress email to the world through the Internet, receiving two or three thousand replies, of which about one-third of the replies thought it was a typical thallium poisoning phenomenon.

Later, the Beijing Municipal Institute of Occupational Disease Prevention and Control confirmed that Zhu Ling had been poisoned with thallium twice, and after the second poisoning, the thallium content in Zhu Ling's body far exceeded the lethal dose. Zhu Ling's parents suspected that someone had deliberately poisoned him, and Tsinghua University reported the case to the police.

Sun, a girl in the same dormitory as Zhu Ling, was considered to be the only person who could legally obtain thallium salt and approach Zhu Ling. The police had launched an investigation into Sun, but because the thallium poisoning test report came out too late, the items in Zhu Ling's dormitory were destroyed, so that the evidence was missing, and there was no breakthrough in the case. In 2006, Sun issued a statement firmly denying that he had been poisoned, and that he was not the only student who had access to thallium salts.

After years of rehabilitation, due to the irreversibility of thallium poisoning damage, Zhu Ling's intellectual, visual, physical and language functions have not been restored, leaving permanent and serious sequelae.

Since then, Zhu Ling has become a symbol, and her events have occasionally been reported in the media. After the Fudan graduate student poisoning case, Zhu Ling's case reappeared in the field of public opinion, and netizens pursued the truth with great curiosity and anger, and also tried to help Zhu Ling.

This year, Zhu Ling has returned to the public eye twice due to brain tumors. Zhu Ling's father, Wu Chengzhi, said: "After being poisoned twice, she not only survived, but also lived for 30 years, which is a miracle. ”
