The winter solstice is one of the 24 solar terms, and it is known as the tradition of worshipping ancestors and sweeping tombs. Today (December 22) Shanghai cemetery ushered in the winter solstice sweeping peak, as of 4 p.m., the city's cemetery received 398,800 citizens, 85,800 vehicles, the overall stability and order, while responding to the cold wave, the cemeteries are also fully prepared.
At 8 o'clock in the morning, on the Shenzhuan Highway in Songjiang District, there was a long queue of vehicles going to Tianma Mountain Cemetery and Tianma Pagoda Park to worship and sweep. The police on-site command noticed the situation and issued a one-way traffic instruction to cooperate with the on-site evacuation. In just 10 minutes, some roads "turned from red to green".
At the entrance of the cemetery, more than 10 police officers guided the vehicles entering the park.
Early in the morning, we set off from Nanjing West Road in the city center to Jiading Songhe Cemetery, although the morning rush hour on weekdays is superimposed, the traffic flow is generally stable, and there is no congestion along the way.
In order to facilitate the worship and sweeping, Shanghai has opened 8 fixed-point bus routes for tomb sweeping a week ago. At the rail transit short barge station of Line 11 Shanghai Circuit, the first train has been opened at half past 6 today. 60 shuttle buses departed one after another, and the crowd of grave sweepers left immediately.
At 9:30 a.m., the parking lot in the park was not yet saturated.
As the largest cemetery in Shanghai, today, the Songhe Cemetery is about 40,000 people and 350 burials are buried in the Songhe Cemetery. In order to cope with the cold wave, the cemetery management has deployed additional manpower in areas prone to water damage and freezing.
The cold wave is coming and today is a working day, the flow of visitors to the cemetery is stable today, and it is expected that many citizens will still travel to sweep the tomb in the next two days, and more than 30,000 people are currently booked.
