Why don't you chant and walk slowly - read Su Shi's words "Dingfeng Bo, Mo Listen to the Sound of Forests and Leaves".
Text丨Ding Zhiliang
Don't listen to the sound of the forest beating the leaves, why not groan and walk slowly. Bamboo canes and shoes are lighter than horses, who is afraid?
The steep spring breeze blows the wine and wakes up, slightly cold, and the mountain is obliquely shining but welcomes. Looking back at the bleak place, there is no wind and rain and no sunshine.
More than 20 years ago, when I first read Su Shi's poem "Fixing the Storm", I had a sense of "amazing" at first sight. As the words slowly passed from the bottom of his eyes and heart, a vivid picture of a scholar with a bamboo cane in his hand, his feet on his feet, and his poems in the rain were vividly displayed in front of him. I only feel that reading it is hearty, and my heart is full of strength and arrogance that is straight on the right path and not afraid of wind and rain. Later, he participated in the pen club activities organized by the Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Calligraphy Association many times, and wrote the banner of "A Rain of Smoke and Rain" more than ten times at the request of literature and art lovers. In addition, he likes Po Weng's calligraphy and poetry, although he did not deliberately study his life, but when he usually glimpsed his poems and introductions to him on the Internet in the book, he paid attention to and read them, and accumulated over time, and he also had a more detailed understanding of his life and deeds.
Su Dongpo studied poetry, calligraphy and painting, and his achievements were very high, which can be described as a "generalist" in literature and art, leaving a large amount of huge spiritual wealth to future generations. The more you know about it, the more you admire its people, its books, its poems and its writings, but it is a pity that people are despicable and vulgar, and it is difficult to learn from them.
However, life is always rare and perfect, although Su Shi is talented, his life has been bumpy, either being degraded, or on the way to being degraded, he has not lived a few years in peace.
In the third year of Yuanfeng (1080), Su Shi wrote a "Huzhou Xie Shangbiao" to play the emperor when he was transferred from Xuzhou to Huzhou. Originally, it was just a routine to thank the emperor for his kindness, but unexpectedly, his political enemies "searched for chapters and excerpted sentences", grabbed the words "new" and "angry" in the chapter, and framed Su Shi for opposing the new law and being disrespectful to the imperial court. He was innocently involved in the "Wutai Poetry Case", a literary prison that excluded and cracked down on dissidents, and was demoted to the deputy envoy of the Huangzhou Youth League. It was when he was the deputy envoy of the Huangzhou League that he wrote this poem "Fixing the Storm". Su Dongpo, who was relegated to Huangzhou, not only had to accept the supervision of the imperial court at any time, but also could not leave the station at will. This made him soberly aware of the cruelty of officialdom and politics. Under normal circumstances, it is difficult for most people to adapt and accept this huge gap in status and mood. Su Dongpo also experienced a long process of closing the door to visitors, studying Buddhist and Taoist classics, and finding a direction and breakthrough for his life dilemma.
This process is full of suffering, not only the unwillingness and loneliness of "picking up all the cold branches and refusing to perch, and the lonely sandbar is cold", but also the calmness and openness of "the boat is gone, and the rivers and seas send the rest of my life", and there is also the vigilance and self-deprecation of "everyone adopts a son and wants to be smart, and I am mistaken for a lifetime by being smart". However, after experiencing the hardships of life and the torment of the soul, Su Shi finally broke through the spiritual encirclement and blended the Confucian feelings of entering the WTO, the open-minded spirit of Taoism and the detachment of Buddhism, and reached the lofty realm of "returning, without wind and rain and sunshine". In the four years in Huangzhou, Su Dongpo's literary creation also entered the most glorious period, and he successively wrote "Former Chibi Fu", "Later Chibi Fu", "Nian Nujiao Chibi Nostalgia" and other famous works through the ages.
Once, Su Dongpo and his friends went out to return when they encountered heavy rain, and after returning to their residence in the rain, they felt something in their hearts, and wrote the famous work of drunken return to the rain and expressing their nostalgia "Dingfeng Bo, Mo Listen to the Sound of Forests and Leaves". And in the preface of the word, the experience and state of mind are stated: On March 7, it rained in Shahu Road. The rain gear went first, and the peers were embarrassed, and the rest of the people didn't realize it, and it was already sunny, so it was this word. The lyricist uses the chic roaring and roaring in the rain to show a stubborn character and open-mindedness that is not afraid or depressed despite adversity and setbacks. At that time, he had already walked out of the spiritual predicament, his thoughts were superb, and his words revealed a sense of leisure and peace. Among them, words and phrases such as "why not roar and walk slowly", "a cloud of smoke and rain Ren Pingsheng", "there is no wind and rain and no sunshine" and other words and sentences have become famous sentences through the ages, and they have been recited for thousands of years.
It can be said that this poem highly summarizes and condenses Su Shi's attitude and political stance towards life, and is a life declaration issued by him to the secular and the powerful of the current dynasty. But to taste the true "taste" of this poem, at least you must be familiar with Su Shi's life history and career experience, and combine his mental journey to corroborate each other. The first sentence of the word, "Don't listen to the sound of the forest beating the leaves", although the rain is not written, but the sound of the raindrops "through the forest beating the leaves" renders the trend of the rain and the wind, which can be described as "without a word, as much as the romance". At the same time, the word "don't listen" is used to clarify the attitude of life not to be disturbed by external objects. Next, "why not chant and walk slowly" is an extension of the meaning of the previous sentence. The few numbers not only outline a romantic picture of a scholar strolling in the rain, but also show the lyricist's calm and calm in the face of the wind and rain of life and the ease of leisurely walking, and also highlight the poet's transcendent feelings that are not afraid of political storms, echoing with the words in the preface "peers are embarrassed, and the rest is unconscious". The word "what's the matter" reveals a maverick attitude that challenges the world. Traditionally speaking, the comfort of riding a horse in the rain is better than the hardship of trekking through the mud with bamboo canes, but Su Shi said, "Bamboo canes and shoes are lighter than horses, who is afraid?" The "bamboo cane and mango shoes" here are not realistic, but fictional reference to the state of walking at that time, depicting the state of mind of the lyricist: when he has a calm and leisurely state of mind, even if he is trudging through the mud with a bamboo cane and wearing mango shoes, it is better than riding a high-headed horse and galloping. In fact, this shows a complete change in the poet's attitude towards life: abandoning the aristocratic life of fat horses and light fur, and yearning for and advocating the commoner life of bamboo canes and shoes. After going through many ups and downs, ups and downs in his career, and getting used to a life of having a job without power and even a very hard life, Su Shi's mentality and life have long been civilian, and he is tired of and even disgusted with the luxurious life of going in and out of cars and horses, eating and living in wine and meat mansions. The "light" here does not mean that bamboo canes and shoes are lighter than horseback riding, but alludes to the relaxed and refreshing mood of the lyricist who is "unofficial and light". Later, he retorted "who is afraid", which is actually an abbreviation of "who is afraid in the end", which is not only to ridicule friends in the same industry, but also to boldly reveal his intentions, which means "I am no longer afraid of the stormy hardships and tribulations on the road of life and politics". The next sentence "a cloud of smoke and rain is my life", inheriting the frank meaning of "who is afraid", from the real to the virtual, from the wind and rain in front of me to the whole life: let the wind and rain in nature and the eunuch road blow, I have always been calm and calm, and I will never give up my life attitude and political principles in my life. It shows the poet's firm belief, self-style, and fearless detachment. This sentence is also a portrayal of Su Shi's life. He was constantly attacked politically, repeatedly degraded, and in his later years was even exiled to the wild and remote Danzhou (present-day Hainan Island). But mentally, he was never defeated, always maintaining a clear mind and a clean soul.
At the end of the word, Mr. Dongpo mainly describes the scene after the rain and his own true feelings, which can be described as a blend of scenes. The first sentence "The steep spring breeze blows up the wine, slightly cold, and the mountain shines obliquely but welcomes each other", which depicts a seemingly contradictory but philosophical picture to the reader: the steep spring breeze blows on the body, waking up the lyricist's wine, and also makes him feel a little cold. But after the rain in an instant, the sky is clear, and a touch of slanting sun on the mountain conveys a warm feeling to the lyricist, making people feel the tranquility and peace of the world after the wind and rain. It is not only a scene, but also an expression of the lyricist's life insights: warmth is nurtured in the cold, and hope is implied in adversity. It symbolizes that Su Shi's soul has been polished and tempered, and gradually sublimated and clear. Then, Su Shi further expressed his thorough understanding of life: "Looking back, I have always been bleak, and when I return, there is no wind and rain and no sunshine. It means that after going through a period of life, looking back at the places and tribulations that have been experienced before with a thorough eye, there is no wind and rain at all, everything is an illusion in the heart. This is also the "undifferentiated realm" of Buddhism that he reveres. The Buddha said, "All laws are manifested only by the mind", and all the objects and images of the world are illusioned by the mind. If our spirit is elevated to the state of non-difference, there will be no difference in the world. Whether it is success or failure, all the trials and tribulations are insignificant and don't care. Advise the people of the world not to be frightened by the wind and rain, nor to be ecstatic because of the sun, but to be calm and indifferent. Although his mentality seems to be suspicious of idealism, it is actually a kind of state of mind that transcends and improves after understanding the theory of Buddhism and Taoism and the truth of life. Reflecting Su Shi's life realm, through the previous tempering, has been fully purified and improved. After he was exiled to Danzhou in his later years, he also removed the word "return" from these two or three sentences and copied them into a poem entitled "Dujue": "Xiaoran alone feels the afternoon window, and I still hear the sound of drunken snoring." Looking back at the bleak place, there is no wind and rain and no sunshine. It can be seen that this kind of life understanding and mentality ran through the second half of Su Shi's life.
Po Weng has long passed away for thousands of years and has become a shining term in the history of Chinese culture, and his artistic achievements in all aspects have also become a difficult peak for all kinds of artists to cross the way. However, his optimistic and expansive attitude towards life, indomitable spiritual will, and pure and noble moral character have always influenced and nourished future generations. With the development of the times and the emergence of new social contradictions, people's pressure on employment, economy, feelings, life and other aspects is growing day by day, and many people are often in mental anxiety, emotional conflicts, skill panic and economic pressure. Mr. Su Shi's song "Fixing the Storm" has been chanted and sung by more and more people as a good medicine for the spirit. Although it is not familiar to everyone, its "beautiful shadow" can be seen everywhere in the ears of the web page on the wall, and its "natural sound" can be heard, and its influence is not small. It has become a "net celebrity" masterpiece that heals the soul and life, and is regarded by many people as the quint nickel of self-cultivation. On the road of life, there are indeed too many hardships and tribulations, too many unsmoothness and discomfort. Whether we live a rich life, are spiritually poor, have a blocked career, or have a sluggish life, why should we learn from Su Dongpo. Relax your mind, cleanse your soul, see through the world, cultivate your spirit, stabilize your mind, adjust your mentality, put on a broad coat, and I am screaming and walking slowly. I believe that as long as we stick to our hearts, do not be impatient, calm and calm, and never give up, we will eventually "turn the road to the river and the bridge suddenly appear", firmly bear the work and economic pressure, get out of the trough of life and career, rush out of the whirlpool of feelings, witness the clear sky of "keeping the clouds open and seeing the moon", and harvest the infinite scenery of "another village".
