Vučić said that the entire line of the Hungarian-Serbian railway in Serbia is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, when it will take only 75 minutes to reach the border city of Subotica from the capital Belgrade. Once Hungary completes its domestic section, the travel time between Belgrade and Budapest, the capitals of the two countries, will be reduced from eight hours to three hours.

The Hungarian-Serbian Railway is the first single event for Chinese railways to enter Europe, and it is also a landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative jointly built by China and Cyprus. The project runs from Budapest, the capital of Hungary, in the north to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, in the south, with a total length of 341.7 kilometers, of which 183.1 kilometers are in Serbia. The Belgrade-Novi Sad section of the Hungarian-Serbian Railway was successfully put into operation in March 2022, and the construction of the Novi Sad to Subotica section officially started on July 1, 2022.

According to reports, since the start of the Nuosu section more than a year ago, the overall project has been completed by about 70%. The Verbasto Bridge is one of the most difficult and controlling works of the project and is scheduled to be completed by the end of January 2024. (Reporter Zhang Ying)
