Strengthen cultural self-confidence and cultural subjectivity

Looking back at history, we can see that the Chinese civilization has endured for thousands of years, and it has endured all the vicissitudes of life, which is indeed a miracle in the history of the development of human civilization, and it is also the confidence for us to talk about cultural self-confidence today, and it is also an important foundation for establishing cultural subjectivity.

This subjectivity was established by the Communist Party of China under the leadership of the Chinese people on the land of China. The birth of the Communist Party of China has changed the historical destiny of the Chinese nation, changed the spiritual outlook of the Chinese people, and activated the great civilization created by the Chinese nation over the past millennium with the power of Marxist truth, thus making the Chinese civilization once again burst out with powerful spiritual strength. The reason why Chinese culture has been able to extensively absorb the achievements of various civilizations and maintain its distinctive characteristics is that it does not simply adopt or reject foreign cultures, but always insists on taking itself as the main thing and using it for its own purposes; this subjectivity has been established by integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China's specific reality and with China's excellent traditional culture. With such cultural subjectivity, we can form a firm self in the cultural sense, cultural self-confidence will have a fundamental basis, the Communist Party of China will have a strong cultural force to lead the times, the Chinese nation and the Chinese people will have a solid cultural foundation, and Chinese civilization will have the cultural characteristics of gaining a firm foothold in the turbulent tide of world civilization. Of course, what is more important is that with firm cultural self-confidence and abundant cultural subjectivity, we will not blindly follow all kinds of dogmas or copy foreign theories, but will be able to constantly sum up China's experience with Chinese principles with spiritual independence, with a high-spirited outlook and a rational and peaceful attitude, and constantly create a new culture that belongs to our time.

Adhere to openness, inclusiveness, exchanges and mutual learning

General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the subjectivity of Chinese civilization, stressing that "a nation that has abandoned or betrayed its own history and culture is not only impossible to develop, but is also likely to stage one historical tragedy after another." At the same time, the Chinese civilization also has the mind and bearing to embrace the world and harmonize all nations. The identity of Chinese culture transcends geography, blood and religion, and integrates a vast and extremely different ethnic group into a pluralistic and integrated Chinese nation. The more open and inclusive it is, the more it can be recognized and maintained, and the more it can be sustained. Because of this, although China has experienced many impacts and imports of foreign civilizations in its history, it has always been able to continuously absorb new cultural elements and promote the renewal of civilization on the basis of maintaining the stability of its own cultural core.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core has upheld the cultural mind of exchange and mutual learning, openness and inclusiveness, and actively promoted the common values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom for all mankind. From promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind to the Belt and Road Initiative, from the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative to the Global Civilization Initiative, from the establishment of the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations to the summit of leaders of the Communist Party of China and world political parties, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has always been committed to promoting exchanges and mutual learning among cultures and civilizations. Today, in the face of the "great changes unseen in a century" of mankind, in order to create a new culture that belongs to our time, we must adhere to the concept of openness and inclusiveness, and we must not close ourselves off and rest on our laurels. On the one hand, we should draw wisdom from the excellent traditional Chinese culture and firmly guard the cultural roots of the Chinese nation; on the other hand, we should break down the barriers of cultural exchanges with an open mind, promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and constantly absorb the cultural spirit of "transcending time and space, transcending countries, full of eternal charm, and having contemporary value", and internalize it into our own ideological and cultural resources, so as to create a new culture belonging to our time.

The key to keeping pace with the times, keeping integrity and innovating is to firmly grasp the "two combinations". One of the original contributions of Xi Jinping's cultural thought is to open up the relationship between the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the 5,000-year-old continuous Chinese civilization through the "two combinations", and to open up the relationship between Marxist theory as the "soul" and the excellent traditional Chinese culture as the "root", creating an organic and unified new cultural life.

On the one hand, the truth power of Marxism has activated the great civilization created by the Chinese nation over thousands of years, leading China into the modern world through "creative transformation" and "innovative development" On the other hand, the profound fertile soil of China's excellent traditional culture has also provided an important ideological foundation for the spread and development of Marxism in China, and has injected the great spirit and rich wisdom of the Chinese nation into Marxism at a deeper level, so that it can constantly generate new theoretical vitality and vitality of the times, and demonstrate a more distinctive Chinese style and style. The "two combinations" not only make Marxism "Chinese" but also make China's excellent traditional culture "modern." In this regard, the "second combination" is indeed another emancipation of the mind, which allows us to grasp the initiative of ideology and culture, and enables us to solve the dispute between "ancient and modern China and the West" in a broader cultural space, and to create a new culture belonging to our time.
