In this way, British scientists want to find all the planets in the Milky Way that are similar to the cosmic environment of the Earth, because such planets are relatively easy to give birth to life.
After all the data were imported, the researchers got 20,000 results, which showed that in the Milky Way, which is 1 billion light-years in diameter and contains at least 100 billion stars, there are at least 20,000 planets like Earth located in the habitable zone. And when this range is expanded to the whole universe, there will be a figure of 300 billion.
Of course, it is not enough to have a cosmic environment similar to the Earth. These planets also need complex conditions such as liquid water, magnetic fields, and atmospheres that are suitable for living organisms to give birth to carbon-based life similar to humans.
And these carbon-based lifeforms that have survived and multiplied by luck also take a long time to carry out the interpretation of civilization and the development of science and technology. Based on the history of human civilization, this process will take at least 6,000 to 7,000 years. If you count the technical barriers to communication with human civilization, it will take at least 100 years.
Combined with the above information, British scientists have come to the conclusion that there are at least 30 to 36 Earth-like intelligent civilizations in the Milky Way. That's 36 different aliens. If you count the possible silicon-based life, the number is even higher. This statement has undoubtedly delighted many scientists and astronomy enthusiasts.
However, after a moment of ecstasy, the ensuing questions poured cold water on many people. As the famous physicist Fermi's "Fermi Paradox" says, "If there are aliens, where are they?"
In fact, while the number of 36 civilizations may seem enormous, calculations show that these 36 extraterrestrial civilizations are on average 17,000 light-years away from Earth. If they had exchanged information with humans, it would have taken 34,000 years to formally establish contact. From a pessimistic point of view, it is possible that human civilization will not survive that time.
However, compared to a spaceship, this speed is quite fast. At the current speed of human spacecraft, it would take 18,000 years to walk 1 light year, which translates to 306 million years to reach the location of these planets.
And it is more likely that these aliens tried to contact the earth civilization thousands of years ago, but due to the lack of means to receive replies from ancient humans, this information became invalid information, so the earth was considered by these aliens to be a barren land with no people, and since then it has been "blacked".
The same applies to us today.
