In the sea of flowers in TV dramas, there are occasionally one or two flowers that are colorful, but it is difficult to attract people to stop and admire. Recently, two sweet pet dramas "In the Blizzard" and "Off the Rails" have been projected into the audience's field of vision like two rays of light. Among them, "In the Blizzard" is highly anticipated for its warm and touching plot and superb acting skills, while on the other hand, "Off the Rails" seems to have fallen on the starting line.
"Off the Rails", a drama starring Lin Yi and Liu Haocun, attracted a lot of attention with its unique setting and star lineup at the beginning of the poster's release. However, when they really go into the depths of the plot, many viewers find themselves having to face an embarrassing reality: what we are really looking forward to is an audio-visual feast, but in exchange for a fast food that is difficult to swallow.
In terms of plot, "Off the Rails" tries to shape an intricate love story. However, the choreography is too pompous and lacks novelty, as if it is a hard patchwork of several seemingly shocking but in fact old-fashioned bridges. The relationship between the characters is so entangled that it makes people frown, and the lack of rational support behind these entanglements makes it feel like a raw pull effect.
It's even more regrettable that the leading actors showed acting skills. Liu Haocun and Lin Yi, as the leading actors, should have been the brightest stars in the series, but unfortunately their performance in the play made the audience feel stiff and far-fetched. In some scenes, the two leading actors stared straight ahead, their eyes so empty that the audience almost wondered if they were still in the stage of memorizing their lines.
We have never denied that Lin Yi and Liu Hao have shown extraordinary talents in other works. In this play, however, it is as if they are bound by some mysterious force – or rather, – their emotional expressions that could have been flickering.
If we turn our attention to other works such as "To a Windy Place" and "Love Only", the inner scenes of the characters, the tension and the natural emotional intersection presented there highlight the many shortcomings of "Off the Rails".
Overall, "Off the Rails" was criticized for its immature script, irrational character descriptions, and the slightly lacking performance of the leading actors, although it was full of expectations. It tells us a profound truth: even the most beautiful melody needs to be carefully arranged and delivered by the performer to move people's hearts.
Of course, there is no such thing as a permanent failure or success in the entertainment industry. We are confident that the producers and all the team members involved in the production of the show will learn valuable lessons from this experience and return to the screen with new knowledge and understanding. At the same time, I also look forward to Lin Yi and Liu Haocun being able to adjust their state and show their truly captivating and impeccable artistic charm in their future works. After all, in the vast sky of sweet pet dramas, everyone deserves their own shining debut moment.
